Roth IRA would be my first choice Lawrence for the growth that you are seeking which is very moderate .You might have to sprinkle a little corporate debt into the mix to in order to make 5-7%.Look for a mid sized mutual fund to invest $10000 in alot of fund managers are taking new money .But yeah Roth IRA would be transferrable to spouses and heirs unlike social security .Also consider a 403b they lower you agI tax deductiable with no I come limits.

Yea Im working 4/10's these days Monday-Thursday 5pm-3:30am. I love having the 3 days off but we lose out on a lot of overtime with this schedule. I took this semester off but will return next semester.

Honestly Pepsi is very big on quality control and such. Although we have a open warehouse with like 5 huge doors where any animal can come in the warehouse ive never seen a ant, a insect, a spider, or any type of animal besides a bird in the warehouse ever. like stated above I would go with a Roth IRA due to the fact that it's tax free when you withdraw it, more so at your age if your planning on saving for retirement. I have been putting 5K in mine for the past couple years and will continue to do so that way I have some money for when I retire

Remember thats what you set out to earn YOY.Never forget that the market will dictate what you make and there could be several more downswings in the 50+years you will be working.Right now I would max my contributions into an aggressive overweight equity fund.I would wait to do that after we get get certainty about Europe then you put your foot on the gas after the equities take that EURO hit.As far as bond growth everyones reaching for yield in the bond markets its not really there,and at your age you really do not need to be overweight bonds until you are around 50.Steady income in dividends will do just fine.
