"“Quid pro quo” is a Latin phrase that means “something for something” or “a favor for a favor”. It's used to describe an exchange of goods, services, or money. "
Trump was acquitted because it was a sham.
Here is what a quid pro quo looks like ...
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Joe Biden bragging about his Ukrainian quid pro quo to help cover up the millions the Biden crime family got from Hunter’s fake job at Burisma. <br><br>I thought quid pro quo’s were impeachable offenses? <a href="https://t.co/BGeJRWN34S">pic.twitter.com/BGeJRWN34S</a></p>— Glockford Files (@GlockfordFiles) <a href="https://twitter.com/GlockfordFiles/status/1724085861824815122?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >November 13, 2023</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>Comment -

#19114Dear Grok
Pretend I am a disgruntled, lazy, do-nothing GS-15 federal employee working in the Department of Education. Write me an email to send to Elon telling him what I did in the last week.
Subject: Weekly Update from Your Favorite Bureaucrat
Dear Elon,
Hey, it’s me, your friendly GS-15 paper-pusher over here at the Department of Education. Thought I’d dazzle you with my whirlwind of a week since I know you’re probably dying to hear about it.
Monday kicked off with a bang—three hours of staring at my inbox, deleting spam, and sipping burnt coffee from the break room. Real productivity booster.
Tuesday, I shuffled some papers around on my desk to look busy during a team meeting I didn’t prep for. Nailed it.
Wednesday was peak performance: I forwarded an email to someone else to deal with. Delegation is leadership, right?
Thursday, I spent a solid chunk of time googling “Tesla stock” and wondering why I’m not rich yet. Didn’t find any answers, but I did take a long lunch.
Friday—today, technically, since it’s Saturday now but who’s counting—I drafted this email, which is honestly the most I’ve accomplished all week. Oh, and I filed a form to request more toner for the printer nobody uses. Heroic stuff.
Anyway, that’s the glamorous life of a federal employee. Keep making cool stuff so I have something to daydream about while I’m avoiding work. Hope you’re enjoying Mars or wherever you’re at these days.
Cheers,
[Your Name]
Department of Education

#19115Subject: My Week: A Masterclass in Doing Squat
Dear Elon,
You asked what I’ve been up to at the Department of Education this week. Spoiler: it’s a rollercoaster of incompetence and caffeine-fueled rage. Strap in.
Monday started with me yeeting my coffee across the cubicle when some Zoom warrior tried to rope me into a “literacy task force.” Spent the morning googling “how to sue for emotional distress from bad roasts” and whining to Gary in Facilities about the janitor’s vacuum being too loud. Crushing it.
Tuesday, I sat through a two-hour meeting on “inclusive syllabi” where I pitched teaching kids in Klingon to spice things up. Got blank stares, so I doodled a Tesla logo on my notepad and called it “visionary input.” They’re lucky I didn’t nap on camera.
Wednesday, I forwarded an email about budget cuts with “LOL good luck” and accidentally sent it to the Deputy Secretary. Covered my tracks by pretending it was a motivational acronym—Laughing Optimistically, Losers. Also ate a stale donut from the break room. Multitasking king.
Thursday, I took a three-hour lunch because I “got lost” on the way to Panda Express. Came back, knocked over a stack of grant applications, and blamed it on a ghost. Then I spent 45 minutes arguing with IT about why my printer hates me. Spoiler: it’s mutual.
Friday, I watched a YouTube vid of you roasting Twitter execs—chef’s kiss, man—then wrote this email while balancing a pen on my nose. Nearly set a personal record before it fell and I yelled “OSHA violation” at no one. Another week of keeping America’s kids barely educated.
So, that’s my GS-15 grind—maxing out taxpayer dollars with minimum effort. Hit me up if you need tips on how to coast harder; I’m basically the Tesla of slacking.
Cheers,
Hareeballs
Chief Desk Ornament

#19117Traditionally, the deputy FBI director has been a career FBI agent.
That is particularly important when the director has no experience at the FBI.
Donald Trump tonight announced he is appointing as deputy director Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent and prolific conspiracy theorist.
He has never spent a day working at the FBI, but he has spent many hours spouting baseless falsehoods about the bureau, such as that the FBI lied when they said they don’t have a suspect in the pipe bombs as outside the RNC and DNC on 1/15/21.
Current and former FBI officials are appalled—and extremely concerned for the national security of the country.
When Dan does a show topic he always says remember the names . He and Kash are gonna make them famous .
Couldn’t think of a better 1-2 combination .Comment -

#19122THE HILL: Angry Democratic donors turn off the flow of money. From bundlers to small-dollar contributors, Democrat donors say they are still angry about the election results and uninspired by anything their side has put forward since then.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...d=BingNewsSerp
I’ll be blunt here: The Democratic Party is f‑‑‑ing terrible. Plain and simple,” one major Democratic donor said. “In fact, it doesn’t get much worse.”
A second donor was equally as pointed. “They want us to spend money, and for what? For no message, no organization, no forward thinking. … The thing that’s clear to a lot of us is that the party never really learned its lesson in 2016. They worked off the same playbook and the same ineffective strategies and to what end?”Comment -

While the popular vote doesn't affect who actually wins the election, it can be relevant in discussions of how big of a mandate the winner has to govern. By this measure as well, 2024 was a historically close election. Since the end of World War II, only three elections had popular-vote margins smaller than Trump's current 1.6-point lead: 1960, 1968 and 2000.Comment -

#19126Hardly a mandate, there skippy. In today's current climate hardly a month in, they are leaving him in droves. Currently it's a 57% disapproval.

We had nine years of that leading into 2022. And we haven't forgotten all the incompetence, scandals, rorts and pandemic failures during that time. Morrison has gone but Dutton, Taylor, Susssssan, Littleproud, Cash, Barnaby et al remain.

#19137If Obama or Biden had picked a Joint Chiefs head of colour who was so unqualified they required a special waiver for the job — like Trump just did for a white man — some of y’all would have lost your minds.
If you think an assault on Black Excellence in the middle of Black History month is a coincidence you’re not paying attention.
Black excellence scares you. White mediocrity is your security blanket.Comment -

#191413yrs ago, Russia carpet-bombed Mariupol, forcing people to seek shelter in the drama theatre--their last safe haven.
Then Russia dropped an aerial bomb there, killing hundreds.
Today, the US pushed at the UNGA a resolution that fails to recognize Russia as the aggressor.
