In lamens terms they were getting too much money, and keeping the rest. They will still get money for research provided that they fall in to the proper percentage for upkeep. that they agreed to when they accepted the grant

At issue: The NIH, the largest funder of biomedical research, said it was cutting what are called “indirect costs” for research institutions that receive its grants – such things as support staff, hazardous waste disposal and the electricity needed to operate sophisticated machinery.

1) Go ahead and tell me when the GOP does stuff like this, and while you're at it, explain why inflation peaked in 2022 but when we had more Covid lockdowns in 2020 and 2021 inflation was lower.

2) coming from you 2, it's a compliment, I understand this stuff better than most here.

3) So the break even on a 20% hike is 25%. There's no reason they can't raise prices 25% or more. It is true that in some cases, the "folks across the street in the same business takes the hit", but they're usually larger businesses that can absorb it, and it kills the smaller business.

The problem with your argument is that the exporter company can also absorb the costs, and we even had China subsidizing exports during Trump's first term to keep the prices low. We can still have larger US companies absorbing the costs while the smaller companies can't and they go out of business. This is way more complicated than a typical 4th & 5th grader can understand, but you do have only an elementary grasp on this.
