#19497Why would the US want to give leverage to Russia and not to Ukraine? It's gross. And at this point, even if they think they ink a deal, Putin has his fingers crossed behind his back. He'll do whatever he pleases and he knows Trump is on his team. it's a heartbreaking development for mankind.Irrational thoughts have destroyed your soul.

The secretary of Defense has ordered U.S. Cyber Command to stand down from all planning against Russia, including offensive digital actions, sources tell Recorded Future News.
How can there remain any doubt that this administration is backing Putin against all America's longstanding allies and friends?
And how do you explain it beyond kompromat or Krasnov?Comment -

I see that DipShit is still posting nonsense.
He's too blind to see that Putin's and Trump's definition of peace is simply a carve out of Ukraine territory and providing zero guarantees that they won't invade again. And providing zero for reparations for all the damage and loss of lives resulting from an illegal unprovoked invasion.Comment -

If Trump had any strength or pull, he'd tell Putin to leave 100% and then it's over. Mineral deal in exchange for Russia leaving 100%, and if they violate then we annhilate Russia. Simple.Comment -

#19509That's not your opinion. That's you making up nonsense that's false. Russia invaded Ukraine. It's not that complicated. They should leave 100% immediately. Not that complicated. Civilized people are not in favor of a country invading a sovereign neighbor and slaughtering its citizens.

#19511It's a fact that our Secretary of State told Russia NATO wouldn't expand one inch eastward in 1990, only for NATO to add members right on Russia's border. There's going to be blowback from our foreign policy if we do things like put a military alliance on an adversary's border.
NATO is simply a mutual DEFENCE pact.
It is zero threat to Russia or anyone else unless they attack a member state.
There was zero justification for Russia to launch an invasion on Ukraine.

Nothing is simple about it. CNN and MSNBC are embarrassed to be Americans. They hate that Trump is exposing the Democrats sucking up to Ukraine, and doing it publicly. Not behind closed doors where no one knows the truth. Trump and Putin want peace. Zelensky proved today he does not.

#19520In over thirty years of working on the Social Security Administration (SSA) and its programs at the White House Office of Management and Budget and now the Urban Institute, I have never been more concerned about the agency than I am today.
It’s clear the Trump Administration has decided to dramatically downsize the Social Security Administration. First probationary employees were dismissed.
Now, as of February 27, the SSA acting Commissioner told SSA it will implement an “agency-wide organizational restructuring that will include significant workforce reductions” and ALL employees have been offered incentives to leave the agency, retire early or be reassigned.
These new incentives violate the Trump Administration’s guidance that provision of Social Security benefits shouldn’t be adversely impacted by downsizing. With 86% of SSA’s workforce on the front-line, these moves guarantee that Social Security benefits will be impacted.
The sweeping nature of the incentives to resign make the ultimate consequences impossible to predict – either by me or SSA’s acting leadership. The non-strategic downsizing means SSA could lose staff in crucial positions, such as employees who transmit benefits data to Treasury.
Even before these new announcements it was clear that tight staffing levels would lead to very long disability backlogs.
With the Social Security Administration already experiencing staff shortages, any further reductions in workforce will exacerbate claims backlogs and increase wait times.
SSA is already at historically low staffing levels with over a million people awaiting disability decisions. aarp.org/content/dam/aa…
There is legal controversy around both freezing funding and downsizing staff. The issues are linked for SSA. A disabled worker who is eligible for SSDI benefits will not receive those benefits until their claim is processed.
The policy decisions by the Trump Administration in these past weeks will affect the lives of millions of Americans and in the years ahead the consequences of crippling a key agency will unfortunately be all too evident.

That's one of the things about being sold a lie. Once you have been sold a lie and you've been naive enough to be sucked in by it, you have to defend that position because otherwise you look stupid. Just like Covid lockdowns and the vaccine.
You can't acknowledge what has actually happened, because if you did you'd have to be acknowledging that you were stupid, and no one wants to do that,Comment -

Crimea was Russian territory for roughly 200 years. Kruschev, a Ukrainian, officially transferred Crimea to Ukraine in the 1950s, but it didn't matter since it was all USSR. When the USSR broke up in the early 1990s, Ukraine kept Crimea, but Russia was given access to its Sevastopol naval base in Crimea. In 1995, the Study on NATO Enlargement said that new members shouldn't have border conflicts.
Fast-forward to 2010, when Viktor Yanukovych won the election in Ukraine. He was pro-Russian, and that bothered many Western Ukrainians, Europeans, and Americans. So, in 2014, Ukraine needed money, and VY took a bailout from Russia rather than Europe. This helped lead to the Europe and America supported Maidan uprising, which led to Yanukovych going into Russian exile and a new, pro-Western government.
The pro-Western government decided to sabre rattle against Russians in Eastern Ukraine, as well as float the possibility of expelling the Russian military out of Crimea and their base in Sevastopol, home to their Black Sea Fleet and their only year-round warm water port. To make sure that didn't happen, Russia invaded Crimea and took the land.
Regarding NATO being a defence pact, it wasn't when it was bombing Serbia in the late 90s, and what would happen if Ukraine joined, attacked Russian troops in Crimea, and Russia fired back? That's what the Russians are so concerned about. I'd feel the same way about Mexico joining an alliance with Russia, China, and North Korea if Mexico was proclaiming the border states theirs, or if Russia wanted to put nukes in Cuba.

#19530December 1994, Ukraine agrees to give up its nuclear arsenal in return for security guarantees from the US, UK, France, China and Russia.
February 2014, Russia invades and subsequently annexes Crimea, President Obama does next to nothing. War through weakness.
July 2019, Trump admin withholds $250 million in military aid to Ukraine to apply pressure to investigate alleged corruption by Hunter and Joe Biden.
February 2022, Russia invades a weakened Ukraine, world expects Zelenskyy to flee and Kyiv to fall within days.
Ukrainians fight bravely for 3+ years, inflict hundreds of thousands of casualties on Russian army, weaken Putin politically.
U.S. has sent ~$70 billion in outdated military equipment to Ukraine since start of war, providing opportunity for U.S. military to modernize its weaponry.
We’ve sent an additional $30+ billion in budget support, $75 billion in ancillary appropriations related to war.
~50,000 Ukrainians have died defending their homeland, protecting U.S. and Western interests in the process.
Meanwhile, the U.S. President and V.P. are calling democratically-elected Zelenskyy a dictator and berating him in Oval Office in pursuit of a financial payoff.
The U.S. should be thanking Ukrainians, who have fought for our common interests with only modest financial support from a country with a ~$30 trillion GDP.Last edited by Hareeba!; 03-01-25, 03:48 AM.Comment
