I found this post on Twitter by @FluteMagician which rips apart many of the lies and misinformation about the LA fire disaster being spread by MAGA, Trump and Squeaker Johnson in blaming Democratic Party governance:

Now I will expose the lies of Speaker Johnson. He is repeated the lies of Trump here. Water wasn’t the problem here. Fuel load and wind is. But the biggest lie is circled there. In this thread, I will give you the facts.
There’s a number of communities that border the Santa Monica Mountains. Notice that one circled? That’s the community affected by the Palisades Fire.
Here is a map. Circled is where Pacific Palisades is in relation to the Santa Monica Mountains. Note the location of Malibu.
Here is the Palisades Fire. Again, note the location of Malibu. So as you see, most of what’s on fire is the Santa Monica Mountains themselves. Now we need to understand this ecosystem.
Here’s the Santa Monica Mountains. See all that green? That dries out and burns. Can anyone call it realistic to remove all that vegetation you see there? Because even if you could, it would all grow back quickly. That’s why wildfires occur regularly. It grows back.
Here’s another photo of the Santa Monica Mountains. These are all fast-growing plants. The task of removing all this vegetation is impossible. And it would be growing back as fast as you removed it. And it grows back relatively fast after fires.
Notice the rugged terrain of the Santa Monica Mountains. If it wasn’t so rugged, obviously communities would have been built here. How would you go through here and remove all this vegetation. And WHO would pay for it? The “hard earned tax dollars” the GOP whines about?
Trump lies, Speaker Johnson lies, and the GOP/MAGA lies because they actually don’t have any realistic solutions or ideas. So they must lie and blame “the Democrats” to deflect from their own ignorance of science and stubborn refusal to enact wise government policies.
The other reason they can’t remove vegetation is it will lead directly to massive mudslides. Which will happen to the areas these fires happened the next heavy rain. There could be flooding, too. This is far from over even when the fires are out.
Even when the fires are out, the dangers are not over. If there’s heavy rain, you could see mudslides and flooding into the affected areas. This could end up being one of the biggest disasters in American history.

Empty G’s support for Trump's big plan to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America” is exactly the kind of useless, time-wasting stunt you’d expect from someone more concerned with showboating than solving actual problems.
Let’s break this down:
First, the U.S. doesn’t own the Gulf.
News flash, Mexico has more coastline along it than America does.
You can’t just slap your name on an international body of water like you’re claiming dibs on a parking spot.
It’s like renaming Niagara Falls the “USA Falls” and expecting Canada to go along with it.
Second, this nonsense won’t stop cartels or trafficking.
Renaming the Gulf isn’t going to magically make it drug-free. Cartels don’t care what you call it, they’re not stopping at the border for a name change ceremony.
And let’s talk about the practicality of this brilliant idea. Hundreds of federal maps and documents would need reprinting. For what?
So we can confuse mariners and international trade partners?
Not to mention, Mexico and the rest of the world will just ignore it and keep calling it what it’s been for centuries: the Gulf of Mexico.
Meanwhile, actual issues, like climate change fuelling stronger hurricanes, get shoved aside for this nonsense waste of taxpayer time and money.
Renaming the Gulf won’t bring back Louisiana’s eroding coastline, it won’t stop rising sea levels, and it sure as hell won’t fix your water pipes in Jackson, Mississippi.
This isn’t policy; it’s posturing. It’s a stunt for headlines and seeking attention on social media! It’s not worth the paper this “bill” is printed on.Comment -

For me personally? Yes. When he 1st got in we got a stimulus. After that, I got a helluva raise on my SS and another this year. Gas hasn't been cheaper. Food is stable.
