If Taylor Swift starts serving drinks during her concert then the new law would require her to break down how much money she made on tips versus how much money she made on revenue from the concert itself.

The IRS would say "ok you made $10 million on ticket sales from the concert, and $3 in tips. So of that $10,000,003 you made last night, $10 million of it is fully taxable." The IRS will NOT say, "ok all $10 million is just one big tip!!"

If you were honest, you would admit that Trump killed a deal that would have discouraged illegal immigration. He got the party to tow the line and the deal didn't get done. Look up Obama's first term in office. He also tried to bring a bill to reduce illegal immigration. Republicans said nope. George W Bush, who understood immigration probably more than any other president tried several times. Democrats AND his own party Republicans turned him down. I'm not quite sure how a CEO can get away with diverting $30 million a year into tips. BUT...

I know at least a dozen corporate tax lawyers through the years. These guys oversee billion dollar companies. I know some guys that know the tax code inside and out. They know everything about income, wages, etc., that I can't even begin to think I know. You give them a loophole, they immediately find a way to exploit it. Setting up entities in different states and countries for that matter. The government will never be stupid enough to allow any income, including tips to not be taxed.

Now I can see Trump and Harris saying they would not tax tips under a certain amount, say $30k but that won't help those people anyway. It's grandstanding by both of them. There's other ways that would be much more effective in helping the working poor. How about increasing child tax credit?

No, they really won't. As I stated before: the IRS has a set definition regarding what a tip is and who is eligible to receive them. There is no way whatsoever some corporate CEO is going to tell the IRS "oh yeah my $30 million salary last year was all tips."
