Currently, Hank Voight (Chicago PD)
Consummate hard ass, plays by his own rules.

Lennie Briscoe, (Law and Order)
Loved his smart ass comments, and Jesse Martin his partner who played Ed Green, probably the best 1-2 detective combo team of all time.

Sipowicz (NYPD Blue)
Ugly as sin, but never, not once took any shit.

Steve McGarrett (Hawaii 5-0)
(Jack Lord, not Caan)
Probably the first TV cop that made love crime dramas.
Danno was a bit of a weenie though.

Joe Friday
(Dragnet)
Loved the was Webb portrayed the straight laced Friday.
Had that certain staccato mono-tone that I liked for some reason.
Never swung his arms though.

My opinion, the best actor in the business today.
