I read more about the story and its clear he knew he had to receive the vaccine or not be listed for transplant. Transplant recipients are at a much greater risk than the general public of having serious illness from covid as they are on medications that basically shut their immune systems off
so they dont reject the newly transplanted organ.
Am I on the hospitals side? of course. I've worked with heart transplant patients for 10 years and the system in place work extremely well. Including mandating vaccines. If it were my family member, Id plea with them to get the vaccine. If they chose not to knowing the consequences, thats their decision.
