have a coyote near the house

I was out for a walk around my neighborhood just now and a coyote walked by me about 10 feet away. I yelled at it and it ran off.

I havent seen the bastard since or heard any coyote sounds at night. I happened to talk to the vet and she said me yelling at him and the cat growling from the window might have been enough, they are cowardly unless they sense fear or have become accustomed to humans.

Most predators don't like a fight. It's not like you can just sit there, wait for him to come and shoot them either. They are sneaky. I could barely tell he was even there as he camouflaged himself against a tree and against some leaves. I heard its a different case in the west though. They sort of are all over the place and amongst the people already, so its not uncommon to see them out in the open. Out of all the people I told in my area, no one ever heard of one being that close to a house.

If your child is older than 5 they are in more danger getting scratched by your cat or getting pulled out of the yard by an illegal immigrant "coyote" ( were being shot, poisoned, or foot trapped would be a viable solution) than an actual single coyote.

My point is that the threat assessment is off. If your child is older than 5 they are in more danger getting scratched by your cat or getting pulled out of the yard by an illegal immigrant "coyote" ( were being shot, poisoned, or foot trapped would be a viable solution) than an actual single coyote.

He’s only 4, but the chance the coyote attacks him would be minimal anyways. I think I read only 2 documented cases of a human being killed by a coyote, but of course that doesn’t count attacks. Not like I would let him outside anyways by himself. People go way too fast down my driveway. Various delivery people, visitors, etc. 100 times more scared of that then anything else. The coyotes are more of danger to the cats for sure than my son.
