The audit is to discover how many vote were counted that, per letter of the law, should not have.

It's not going to change the election results, but rather it's going to be used as exhibit 1A in every State enacting stricter voting laws and voter ID requirements. Any legal opposition to them this gets brought up, any significant illegal or ineligible ballots counted in future elections in more liberal States, this gets brought up. Disenfranchisement by offset is just as legit as Disenfranchisement by defacto law.

Thou it's not a recount, it's an audit. The audit will determine how many ballots were counted that should not have because of:

Address
Registration date
Post mark
No signature
No signature match

Etc

The audit is going to establish whether or not the very loose election of 2020 resulted in a significant amount of votes being counted that in a non pandemic year would otherwise not have counted, and from there, the States can make voter laws that will curb the errors made in GA, AZ, WI, MI, PA
