and why aren't 3rd world countries absolutely destroyed by covid? not proper hygiene, no masks, no hand washing, social distancing, etc. Based on what we are told, those countries should be absolutely wiped out.

One theory is that the coronavirus kills older people at a much higher rate (10% compared to 0.1%). Is it possible that these third world countries don't have much of an old population because of such low life expectancies? From the data, it does look like the elderly in a lot of places are being "absolutely wiped out".
