Its a nice vacation if your going to relax on beach.

If your a fat penetrate like me. Be prepared to come back with some weight lose even if you drink like a fish. The food is horrendous u can find some small little restaurants outside resort if u go into town depending what part of Cuba your going to.

IMHO I know Cuba is cheap especially for us canadians but i think its definitely worth spending 250-500 more a person and going to Dominican. Much better food and overall better vibe then CUBA.

The Royalton is the bomb. Great food and spa. I think it's the only 5 star on the island. It used to be a Sandals but was sold. It's not cheap though, even for Cuba. The National Hotel of Cuba is good as well. I used to fly over to Cuba from the Bahamas, as it was much easier back in the day. Not sure I would travel their during covid if you're looking to party. If you're just looking to chill at a spa, it's not a bad choice.

Cuba and DR wouldn't be in my top 10 Caribbean destinations. Turks and Caicos, St. Lucia, Virgin islands, Curacao, and Antigua would be my top 5. But if you're looking at casinos then Atlantis and Baha Mar in the Bahamas are my top choices, followed by the Hyatt in Aruba.

Mac if he is going to Cuba he is probably looking for a cheap destination. DR would be the better of the two. the places you listed are about 2.5 x the price in canada compared to dr and Cuba

I've never thought about a BnB in the Caribbean. I'd rather be pampered than trying to rough it. There's a lot of crime in some of these places. I very rarely ever venture out when I go to DR. Hell no. I don't leave the resort.

Most likely... but I'd rather pay a little more money for more comfort. Plane tickets used to be pricey into Cuba. And the nicer hotels are not cheap. Mexico might be the better option to go cheap.

There's several ways to legally go. The easiest is with a travel group. I think they will set it up as if you are supporting the Cuban people. You can also go for a conference or some type of education. Another option, say you are a dentist and going there to provide free service. Obama made it easy to go but Trump made it harder. My uncle used to have a travel company that all they did was get Americans to Cuba. He'd fly wealthy Americans in for the cigars. I've never gone direct to Cuba. I always went from the Bahamas, where flights are cheap. I also went by boat a couple of times as well.
I'd be very wary to travel there with all the Covid restrictions.

Cuba is probably one of the safest countries to travel. They are strict on gun control, so you don't see any violent crimes. I'm talking zero murders. You might get pick pocketed in a crowded market (which is impossible right now because of covid) or a phone or camera stolen if you put it down someplace. But in general Cuba is pretty good on crime. The hospitals aren't that bad as well. The Cuban government has always promoted educating their doctors. They go on education trips to other countries and fly in top doctors from around the world. I'd feel much better if I got sick there than most other countries in the Caribbean. It's just too third world for my likes.
