Ya, Obama was all about whistleblower protection when he ran and he touted all these protections he was going to afford them. And then Snowden happened and it turns out all that talk was just talk.

With that said, no Republicans have rushed to pardon him either. This is not an issue about liberals being bad people, or even worse than conservatives because I dont believe thats the case, this highlights how powerful the intelligence community is and they operate with impunity.

The NSA was breaking the law, and not one person was held accountable. Yet the whistleblower is facing possibility of life in jail if he ever leaves Russia.

How could we fukk this up so bad that we make Russia appear as if they’re the moral compass of the world.

All said, I think we have common ground here albeit different paths of getting there.

I can’t agree. This is part reason why Trump is in. People will never know all the facts. But it is obvious the Obama Admin. along with the FBI were illegally spying on American citizens. Snowden is a hero obviously. Trump has a better chance of getting Snowden pardoned if he loses the election. Glen Greenwald says it, and it makes a lot of sense. If Biden wins, theres about zero chance.

The Obama regime was one which took away all freedom. Spying on citizens, the mass collection of data, lying to citizens to gain more control, drone campaigns. The Snowden revelations, along with those of guys like Jacob Appelbaum and numerous other heroes, all of which have been the victim of a Witch Hunt, showed how evil the Obama regime truly was. Surely this goes a lot deeper, and the intelligence community which Krakken alluded to is extremely strong, and it isn't to say that liberals are bad people. But the way that these things were dealt with was a huge black stain.

This is also a large reason why Trump won last time around. There were lots of people including me who were fed up with zero accountability for government #1, and government surveillance #2. Those were two hot topic issues at the time. Now, the thought of government surveillance has been swept under the rug, but make no mistake that this is a power grab, and with Trump at the helm, even though we might have had an idiot who stuck his foot in his mouth, he seemingly and honestly tries to do the right thing in regards to issues, and as a person he is pretty fair.

We're in for some pain regardless of what happens now. I wish Snowden would get pardoned. I wish things weren't the way they are and the country is completely lost. We are all controlled and brainwashed at this point and have zero power. The majority of citizens recognize Snowden as a hero and still nothing is done. The only answer is because we haven't made a stink of it yet, and it isn't in the best interests of the powers at be to acquiesce on their own volition.

It isn't irony that every single person who has been vocal about what the NSA has done has had a smear campaign and Witch Hunt waged against them. They aren't all rapists and traitors and all of these wild things. The odds would be astronomical for 1 or 2 let alone all of them to be guilty of such things. The FBI, NSA, our government as a whole has been guilty of covert operations to suppress opposition. It's ALWAYS been the case. It makes sense, when you fight a system it fights back. But it's just sad that this is our government, it has been proven, and they ALWAYS get off the hook. Lois Lerner, Eric Holder, James Clapper, the list goes on and on and on and on.

Hopefully the USA is in trouble, we deserve it.

The NSA broke the law knowingly, James Clapper lied to Congress under oath. Edward Snowden pulled the curtain back and exposed them.

Its been decided by appeals courts that no American and no investigation was compromised by the information he released. Its also been decider recently that what the NSA did was against the law.

Yet no one has been held accountable except the one person that told the truth.

Not the people that lied under oath, not the people that knowingly approved an illegal operation against the American people.

Only the person that did the right and noble thing.
