What the heck is earthquake swarm

ok it a couple of small quakes i guess, i have never heard that term before.....

THese are happening in Los Angeles area I believe. When this area has an earthquake, it usually has 100s of small earthquakes and then 1 or 2 huge ones. Doesn't always have a huge one, but a bunch of small ones do happen every once a few years or so.

^^^^^^^thanks, being from the east here, we only get a very small quake once in a while, this was the 1st time i have ever heard that term.thanks for the info
