In Portland and Michigan, far-right members of the Proud Boys clashed with RIOTERS over the weekend. In Portland, the one of the Proud Boys allegedly fired a gun, while other members dueled with paintball guns and mace. Some reports on social media suggested that a small plastic pipe bomb was tossed as well

The police union guy saying "policing isn't always pretty" isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. None of the other cops felt it was necessary to start cracking skulls with metal batons, just that guy. I mean come on he's a big guy and those are skinny college kids. He's getting off easy with an assault charge to be honest. When I first starting driving a truck, my trainer was a "baptism by fire" type, and he threw me into all kinds of situations i wasn't ready for. We went into South Philly, and this was back in 07 when we still used the old school Rand McNally book atlas. I came to a low bridge, with no sign showing the height of course, and no way to turn around. The only thing I could do was lean all the way out the window with my toes barely touching the pedals and creeping under at idle speed. Cars behind me honking and yelling, "Philly people" pointing and laughing, my trainer ragging at me. After that I somehow wound up on Broad St, running over curbs on those roundabouts, missing gears, horseback cops just looking at me shaking their heads. Obviously lost and obviously a rookie. I don't even know if full sized big rigs are supposed to be there. Literally my 2nd week in the truck and Philly almost broke me.

good point, however the problem with that logic is those people turning to violence are very small percentage of the BLM movement. the mayor of Chicago explicitly made that exact point. Case in point probably millions of these people have been marching with a very small percentage of violence and that violence was not carried out by the marchers but by assholes. Also, when the KKK marches or other right wing groups their entire thought pattern is to look for violence thus the arms they carry.

probably an equally small percentage of cops are the ones using excessive force. in every job there are bad ppl and the police are no different. the only thing you can do is hold them accountable (which other cops and prosecutors usually do not do). im sure the majority of blm are fine, but they still wont stand up to the bad ones and stop them from committing crimes in their name. they have the same morality as the police. most police are fine but they ignore the illegal actions of other cops.
