According to their statistics, Costa Rica has had 20,417 cases and 6,851 recovered. That confirms what you and everyone else already knew (but you decided to go there anyway): Their data is about as thorough and accurate as a drunk Aussie cleaning a rented van.

I was talking about deaths per 100,000 total population. A relatively accurate statistic.

Double checked and CR is a bit worse than I thought, but still more than 10 times better than USA.


USA 48 per `100k
Costa Rica 3.8 per 100k
Australia 0.9 per 100k

Italy is worse at least, with a bit over 50 per 100k, but they are universally considered a disaster zone and are now down to a handful of deaths per day. So USA will very soon pass them too, with no serious slow down in sight.

I'm not being political, just astounded at the smart people vehemently minimizing the obvious.
