#37Donk, unopened wax is gold. Remember how '89 UD put them in silver foil? I'm sure that was to avoid the issue of peaking + re-sealing packs.
Unopened wax (or foil) has much higher value. If u think in terms of supply, every time someone opens a pack, that dries it up some more. There are some Ebay videos on vintage wax openings.
The value of that stuff is ASTRONOMICAL. It's just so rare. Here is an example of what I mean:
I think the retail on that unopened box is something like $44,000. Maybe higher.Comment -

#38I had a collectible hobby store back for about 15 years in late 80's through the eary 2000's. Was quite active trading and selling on ebay at that time as well. Used to do hobby shows all over the southeast. Have 2 storage units 10x10 packed full of cards...Not much of a market for stuff back in those years.Comment -

#40I believe the PSA 10 '89UD Griffey retails at around $500. Grading is a huge party of the industry now, tho. So, it's sometimes hard to pinpoint value on un-graded cards.
I can give u one hint on grading the '89 UD cards. Of course, centering + sharp corners are important. Specific to the '89UD, check out the diamond HOLOGRAM and see if THAT is centered. The hologram probably needs to be centered to fetch a PSA 10 grade.Comment -

#44Anyone watch Phil Hughes YouTube channel? I’m Not a collector anymore but he opens the highest end product, cases of high end stuff at a time. He also shows the Process of how he signs cards and how much he gets per card. Very interesting stuffComment -

Sadly, 1988 Donruss was a shitty set. Right when the over-production kicked in. There's also a Tom Glavine rookie in that set that's not worth much.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#53The '88 Robbie Alomar looks like it sells for $1 or so, not much more. If u somehow find a perfect one that grades PSA 10, $80:

#55guess we better keep this bogus "deadly" kung flu narrative goin' a little longer, so i can pimp my shit out on ebay before people get busy again after the bat flu passes and people quit playing around with their card collections and the market goes soft again.....Comment -

#56I've reviewed some prices. Indeed, I'm out of date on current prices.
Professional grading was a game-changer. So hard to estimate value of raw cards. The stair-step to a higher grade is often 3x and sometimes much more than that.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment
