If Florida were a country, it would rank fourth in the world for the most new cases in a day behind the United States, Brazil and India, according to a Reuters analysis.
Florida's daily increases in cases have already surpassed the highest daily tally reported by any European country during the height of the pandemic there. Florida has also broken New York state's record of 12,847 new cases on April 10 when it was the epicenter of the U.S. outbreak.

By testing, yes. But I guarantee there are so many other countries with thousands and thousands of cases per day that aren't reporting it because they have lack of tests. Of course our numbers are out of control because we have 100x+ the testing than most every other country in the world.

I can't believe that everyone with a positive case and zero symptoms is doing a quarantine. Even worse, I don't believe that positive cases with symptoms are quarantining either. Is the quarantine an honor system thing?? Who makes a positive case quarantine?? Since you don't have to tell publicly who has a positive case I can see a lot of people without symptoms not telling anyone or doing anything to keep from infecting others. Since its 10k+ per day it seems that those positive cases are alright being around each other. Its kind of having sex while pregnant, you can't get more pregnant. Nothing but more positive cases to come out of this.

It just opened yesterday. Under the radar. Can't pin an increase in cases on Disney when the numbers are already through the roof. Kind of like the Patriots signing Cam the day they received their Cinncy taping punishment. I don't think they will be open very long.

15,000 today. And with Disney open it could keep rising.

So Disney world closed when the number of cases were low and open now when the number of cases are record high.....makes sense.

About as much sense as "creating a bubble" for sports team to play, in the worst spot in the world for infection.
No good can come from this.
MLS soccer has already cancelled games because of COVID.

                              This is probably true.

There's no stopping COVID, there's no vaccine coming anytime soon. The vast majority of human race is asymptomatic of this.

The plethora of positive tests seems frightening, but all that matters is if there is hospital space. Areas in TX and AZ seem to be out of space, from what I can tell Florida is in pretty good shape for space.

From there it's a basically a risk factoring game much like an insurance scheme. How much economy can a state open at what risk to life for how much profit.

NBA, MLS, DISNEY, RNC and most all Counties in Florida (and SD, WI) say let it rip, we want the jobs and money.

Meanwhile, States like MN, IL will be asking for a federal bailout and I'm not sure they'll get it...which brings up the question posed by McConnell earlier- let the States file bankruptcy if they want to stay closed.

Sure, and the worst part of it is that many/most of Disney visitors are from out of state. So they can bring it home.

Opening up the largest theme park that attracts visitors from all over the country at the peak of a viral pandemic seeks like a really swell idea. I can't even.

Right, so creates an incentive for local leaders to elevate finances over lives. And punishes local leaders who elevate health and safety over economic activity. There isn't a right or wrong answer, it's more of a question for a moral ethicist.

NUMBERS SHATTERED: The Florida Dept of Health reported 15,299 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, the highest number of new cases reported in a single day by any state since the coronavirus pandemic began.

The weird thing is they had been scheduled to open sooner, but pushed it back. I guess they decided if they postponed again, they may never be able to justify reopening. So they said phuck it. But yeah, in the scheme of things, the situation on July 11 in Florida is worse than it ever was when they closed in March, April, May and June, so the reopening date makes no sense from that perspective. But with a huge company like that, so much goes into scheduling and timing and planning, they are just not nimble enough to change on a dime. But I wonder if they are even making money having the parks open? If not, then what is the friggin point. If shit hits the fan, they may forever damage their brand.

                                                Always been the American way.

Sit on sidelines as Europe slaughters itself until we can get better terms for loans.

Watch Jews systematically be extinguished until Brits agree to a financial compensation package.

Kept the middle east under Saddam and extremist Saudi family rule to extract oil rights whilst hundreds of millions of Kurds and women suffered.

Kept gay rights oppressed under the veil of the AIDS epidemic for 40 years.

Bailed out banks and Wall St in 01, 09 & 20 while tens of millions of American workers lost jobs and life savings.....

American economic performance is only thing that matters because the cycle of money has to flow from consumer to business to government to impact policy.

Floridians who know front line health care workers know that ICU’s being at capacity is a bunch of nonsense.

true but you don't want to add anything on any kind of broad scale. at over 135K deaths in 4 mos we have already exceeded one of the worst flu seasons on record which was 85K in 7 mos. numbers don't lie bro.
