Every day I notice spikes in Covid 19 infections and deaths across the U.S. Some are relatively ignorable, as in states with only a handful of deaths, where a single death could mean a 10% jump in death rate, but others are genuinely notable, like last week’s ‘out-of-no-where’ spike in deaths in N. Jersey, or Florida’s record number infections nearly every day. These spikes don’t necessarily mean trends, but shouldn’t go without notice either. The charts below show what I consider notable spikes today in infections and deaths. I have, however, removed from consideration states where total infections number less than 50k, and total deaths of less than 1000. Today, it’s Arizona – which is truly in a bad way.
