I read somewhere when seatbelts came around in the 70's a lot of people revolted and did not wear them and it took laws passed and fines issued for not wearing them to force Americans to comply. We are heading in that direction with the masks.

This is a terrible headline for this thread, but lamentably it is what all too many people think. "Mask could help stop coronavirus." Masks don't stop a virus one iota. If they did I'd be all aboard with it. The problem is this shit is in the air and that isn't going to change even if everyone on the planet wore a mask 24 hours a day. Now, some people claim a mask will serve to stop spreading it, and the advocates have a wonderful response to our complaints about them legislating their fear onto everyone else: "It's not about me; I want to protect others around me." If you have a mask on, aren't you then protected? (If the damn masks work, isn't that logical?) So what is the difference if someone else doesn't? As I said, this virus is in the air and nobody knows for how long--two weeks? Three months? Four years? All we can do is let it run it's course and not destroy the economy in the meantime. If you're scared--admit it, wear your mask, and you can feel safe. Those of us not scared--we'll live life on the edge.
That being said--I am starting to have a sneaking suspicion that if Dems can win the election in November, within about three days they will be opining exactly what I said. They obviously didn't invent or create this virus, but they damn sure are using it as a campaign strategy.
