I will not tip for two reasons.
a) if the server was rude
b) if the server did not do their job.

I will tip a modest 12.5 percent to a server who did their job but just went through the motions for two reasons.
a) The server could be having a bad day.
b) I understand the servers rely on tips to earn a living.

I will tip 20 percent for terrific service, and on those occasions where the server was extraordinary I might leave 30 bucks on a 100 or 120 tab.
