I know but just because something may be an uphill battle and seem hopeless i don’t want to avoid it even if I feel like it is. When you talk to people that you know the most common thing you hear is “I don’t talk about politics” or “I don’t talk about X” whenever a difficult subject comes up but I think that’s a big problem. Issues don’t go away undealt with or pushed aside. They may get quieter for a little bit but they still linger. We have to get better at having the tough conversations

What I was referring to requiring education is the ability to learn and understand business. A field that is not level at the start and has a much more expensive entry point because it requires living in certain areas or being able to afford private schools. Kids in inner cities have schools that are not at the level of other schools
My point to this is if we took the time to build education equally for youth I feel like a lot of the stereotypes that people on here say about black communities would not apply. Who knows if you guys would still think like that but why not help children have the ability to flourish?

i used to think exactly that way... i delivered food for hunger task force... was a big brother... voluntarily helped clean up the inner city by picking up trash... did free tax returns for 15 years... even taught accounting in the city of milwaukee

Nothing to do with people changing, the opportunities need to be present for them to be allowed to change. How can a person grow up to be successful if their eighth grade teaches at the equivalent of a 2nd grade in a well funded suburban school? If you can’t get the education which in turn gets you the proper paying job then what is their recourse? You’re not trying to help every person, just like any culture there are bad people who don’t care to be helped. But think about the different things you did and how they probably did help people who needed it. Are you suppose to dismiss wanting them to be helped because of others? There’s a lot more people that want to be on equal ground and could use the resources effectively than people who don’t. Then why does a black households with advance degrees have less wealth than a white household with a high school diploma?
Why does a black men make 75% of what a white man makes at the same job?
A Harvard study was done that showed black people with similar resumes as a white person was twice as likely to receive a call back from a job if they whitened their resume to not reveal what color they were. Is this another one of those "bad choices" you called it that caused this? Is there bad choice that they participated in black groups in college? That they have to hide this to be accepted?

Are these all just coincidences or maybe just maybe an uphill battle that cant be won without acknowledging discrimination at play?
