Let me give you one major example. It is a small example, but it fits with the "why". My neighbor had these: Carpenter Bees.
In several species, the females live alongside their own daughters or sisters, creating a small social group. They use wood bits to form partitions between the cells in the nest. A few species bore holes in wood dwellings. Since the tunnels are near the surface, structural damage is generally minor or superficial.[6] However, carpenter bee nests are attractive to woodpeckers, which may do further damage by drilling into the wood to feed on the bees or larvae.[7]
Carpenter bees have short mouthparts and are important pollinators on some open-faced or shallow flowers; for some they even are obligate pollinators, for example the maypop (Passiflora incarnata) and Orphium, which are not pollinated by any other insects.
So, they got to his picnic table. Big deal. Dude might eat at that table once a year if he's lucky. And with social retarding, he might never eat at it with people again. What does he do? Blasts them with a bottle of poison and kills them all. Now, that disrupts the pollination cycle for everything around. I knew a former neighbor....this gopher dug a hole behind his shed. Affected not one f*cking thing. He kept trying to bury the holes and f*ck with it. This guy poisoned just about everything. Eventually, they poisoned him with KEMO for his cancer. That gopher still lived, but I remember hearing he was trying to get a neighbor to kill it while he was nearly at death's door.
The table would've still been fine in the long run. This same guy, he killed two red wing blackbird babies by moving the nest out of one of his trees. They were protecting the nest and pestering him away and he didn't like that. So, even though he tried to remove it kindly in the process they died.
Good luck human species. You can't stop from killing each other and so certainly you can't not kill everything else.
Maybe COVID is just the beginning of the destruction and maybe its because God has seen enough.
