Hand washing is way more important than wearing masks

My aunt is a RN and one of my best friends works at rather large hospital on the Covid floor. This is 100% true.

There is so much misinformation about masks. "Proper" mask wearing does in fact reduce the risk of transmission; however, not all masks are created equal and most people don't really have all the information they need. For example, if you wear a mask...go into walmart and touch everything....then get back in your car, touch your face, and throw your mask in the floor, it's not as effective as washing or sanitizing your hands before you touch your face. Obviously we all know that most people don't do that.

The person I talked to said most of the issues they have seen were actually COVID causing Heart Failure. I think people see CDC data relating to heart issues and immediately think "SEE! THEY'RE COUNTING HEART ATTACKS AS COVID DEATHS". Covid causes the thickening of blood and can cause clotting...this leads to various complications that can ultimately lead to heart failure. The Flu doesn't do shit like this.

If you're healthy you have very little to worry about. Talking with some of these people that actually deal with this stuff every day, the people that have seen pass away had other health issues, COVID just accelerated it.

Moneyshot. I live 5 minutes from Detroit if even that. Maybe 1 minute drive. Just to clarify all of this to you. Wearing a mask IS NOT a law. It has not gone through the state legislature and become a law. It is a "dictate" by Whitmer. You can not "legally" be arrested for not wearing a mask because the order, in and of itself, is unconstitutional. Nor, can you "legally" be given a fine. The State Police are including themselves in felonies along with Whitmer at this time. It is a federal felony. So, they would have to be arrested by Federal officers. The felony is very clear in this case and you can do your own research.

It is a felony to deprive a us citizen from their civil liberties. Last time I checked, forcing someone to wear a mask regardless of the reason is a felony.

Whatever federal officer decides enough is enough with the tyrant Whitmer and arrests her, will go down in history as on of the hero's of this country. If she is not arrested, then we will no longer have a Republic.

So, once again, go ahead and wear that mask if you are scared of this virus. But, if you're not, you better start taking it off and disobeying this garbage something called civil disobedience.

We agree, masks are here to stay. But not because anyone is being told to but because people feel a sense of security with them on. This years flu rate is already 70% lower because of covid precautions. Even in states that are not shutting down it appears that some degree of social distancing and wearing a mask is putting a huge dent in flu rateS....

I think unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you view it, Covid is that thing that will never be forgotten by our generation. It will leave its mark on us, likely in the form of a certain number of people wearing a mask in public the rest of their lives. And probably to a lesser extent some form of social distancing.

I guess the mask for me isnt a big deal because I work with heart transplant patients and we recommend them to wear masks in public for at least 1 year post surgery, and in really crowded places for the rest of their lives. The concept of wearing a mask in public to prevent disease is at least a few decades old. And its worked very well for immunocompromised patients.

And by the declining fly rates, it appears to work equally well in preventing influenza transmission in heathy individuals as well

That's largely true, but there have been a whole of seemingly healthy people who have passed away. Now maybe they had previously undiagnosed conditions that nobody knew about. And maybe those conditions would not have caused an issue for a long long time, if ever. Thing is, you may think you are totally healthy, but low and behold underneath it all not quite. So in that sense, most everyone is potentially suspectible, and the older you are the more likely.

I feel like I am super 100% healthy no issues. I'm pretty confident, but am I 100% sure? Of course not. I'd prefer to avoid covid, and seemingly so far I have. My wife (nurse) gets vaccinated tomorrow. I'll be waiting at the back of the line.
