    Sports Trivia - 3 questions
Nothing too crazy. Just something for fun. No Google-search cheating:

    1) At the end of April 1982, the Colorado Rockies had 18 wins. What stadium did they play their home games in?

    2) In NCAA basketball Division I...name two teams who have Lumberjacks as a mascot.

    3) In NCAA basketball Division I...name two teams who have Catamounts as a mascot.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

Good answers. You guys got 2 + 3.

          Lumberjacks = NoAZ + StFAustin.

Catamounts = vT + Western Carolina. Div1, Asia...b/c there are a ton of D1 Bask teams. Like 340.

I remember Western Carolina from an NCAA tournament game from the 90's. They were a #16 seed and nearly pulled off the first #16-#1 upset against Purdue

I still think that was the closest a #16 seed came until UMBC actually did it. Anquell McCollum who was either the nation's leading or 2nd leading scorer that year, had two open looks from 3 to win it on the final possession for the Catamounts

I also remember how bad Purdue was that game. Looked totally undeserving of a #1 seed and promptly lost to #8 Georgia next round

The most famous near miss b4 UMBC was Princeton vs Georgetown. Princeton was down 1 + had the ball at the end.

Guy took a shot + had it blocked by Alonzo Mourning. HC Pete Carill was begging for a foul call, but there was no foul.

The list of 2/15 upsets is pretty interesting. Lot of heavywts went down on that seeding.

You sniffed it out. I was going thru my archives + I thought it merited a trivia Q.

The answer is McNichols Arena. Nuggets also played there. It may have had a name change, as u reference.

You have to either be Canadian or a hard-core NHL fan to remember the Rockies. They were pretty bad. Only made playoffs once, and that was 16th place in 16-team field of a 21-team league.

I don't think I ever saw a Rockies NHL game. I don't remember seeing a Rockie highlight on ESPN. Just so long ago.

I had to read up on them. About a decade after move to Jersey, the NJ Devils were a Stanley Cup threat, eventually winning 3 of them. Another move from the 1980s, Flames from Atlanta to Calgary, where they won a Cup.

chucky, i was close as you said.

nuggets played at aud before mcnicols..... but it looks like rockies didn't. would have been in kansas city (as scouts) then.... and mcnicols is NOT aud with name change (which i was hoping for)

ironic as i was watching UMBC video the other day. beautiful basketball. great ball movement to find open 3. amazing TINY point guard.

Yeah, like they say, anything can happen on a given day. UMBC played w/ confidence + got the job done.

One little note on that game. I cashed a few tickets on UMBC in the minor tournament the year BEFORE. I knew they had a pretty good program, but who could have seen them knocking off a 1-seed?
