    Covid 19 Data Snapshot 5-15-20
For my Red Herd friends, a snapshot of today’s numbers; so that as you stagger-fumble forward on the dusty trail into “reopening” you have, at least, some facts to guide you (other than the false promise of the head drover, who’s agenda, afterall, is to lead you to that great slaughterhouse at the end of the drive - where he gets paid, and you get dead). “Head 'em up, move 'em out” – YeeeHaw!! (Geez, I miss that show.)

HOUSEKEEPING AND REMINDERS: Added Brazil, because their numbers are too big to ignore, and dropped Switzerland because theirs are too small. S. Korea included as that country is a model of lockdown, social distancing and smart testing, while Sweden makes the list because it’s kind of the reverse of that (although they’re now having second thoughts).

The world got a little sicker, as did the U.S., but Brazil is really cooking with the virus, and their death rate was high enough to keep the U.S in 10th place. N. Carolina, Texas and Arizona are getting worse.

I live in Tennessee. What is exactly do you mean when you say Tennessee has its head in the sand? We were one of the first red state down here to do state wide lockdowns and our cities of Nashville and Memphis closed down even earlier than that. We did this all before we even had a handful of cases. We had testing available pretty quickly too. Are you suggesting that our numbers are lieing and it’s worse here ? People just aren’t dieing here or it would be in the news. It took awhile to get here and we were taking measures much earlier than other states in terms of infiltration rate when we locked down

Apologies to you and all Tennesseans. The “cloud” where I store my numbers, had bizarre population totals for all states, with garbage for per capita testing numbers, the result. It’s been corrected, and I’ve fired the responsible staff. Sorry again for my uncalled for and nasty reference.

It was fine I just wasn’t sure what your comment meant and why Tennessee was getting picked on lol.

I notice you don't list Russia's numbers anywhere. They have been reporting about 10K new cases daily for the last week or more. 272,000 total cases country wide with ONLY 2,537 deaths. The death count seems bogus to me. What say you?

At first, I didn’t track them because their data reporting was very sporadic; and then, just when I thought I’d start, they became only country I watched that actually reduced their infection and death numbers from what had been earlier reported – something they still do from time to time. I don’t know what to make of that. It’s not the bizarre fraud China is trying to perpetrate, but Russian numbers are too untrustworthy to bother posting. At the least, I believe that the numbers I do post now are the result of credible efforts by the nations which report them.
