Cop was a white dude, out of shape and over the hill.. Looked burned out on the job to me.. Just a pissed off unhappy cop is what I saw on that day as I was being nice to him also. I fought it in traffic court and lost. Cop showed and lied about what really happened..

I walked out of the traffic court that day more pissed off then the cop was on ticket day.. I posted this incident on SBR a few years ago..

I can't find that thread that I started on SBR years ago but it's floating out there. The full story.. I was HEATED!!! Still feel raped today from it on principal..

can get in trouble and it's just stupid. Too easy to eat shit on a bike (at least in the pot hole capital of the US, California) when you are sober, if you're drunk, lights out.

I didn't know that you could get it for bikes. It probably depends on the state. I thought it was just a public intox. A cop can basically give you public intox whenever they feel like it. I thought I heard of someone getting it around here and they were totally sober (no drugs/no alcohol.) The cop just didn't like the way he was walking. I think the statute says "appearance of intoxification" or something to that effect.

Most people probably already know this, but never leave the keys in the ignition if you are sleeping one off. They can also get you if they are in your pocket. I think most jurisdictions say "within arms reach", but how the hell am I going to prove in court exactly how far away they were. Especially if the cop wants to be a dikk. Instead I just hide the keys under the rear wheel well or behind the wheel. Hell, that might not even work in some places, but it was the best I could come up with.

Was steep that's why I fought it.. Wrote me up for the combo for running a red and wearing headphones while riding.. It was the combo of the 2 that made it $700.

I was just riding my bike and trying to get a work out. I came off of the beach bike path in Marina Del Rey in California and the cop basically ran me off the road with his police Cruiser.. I was like ok what's this all about?

I was dumb founded by everything that happened.. I ran a yellow light that turned red when I was half way thru the intersection and there was no TRAFFIC anywhere.. If I could have peddled faster I would have ... Totally safe and I was sober obviously..
