    COVID-19 Data - 5/5/20 – 5/11/20
Last week, worldwide, the rate of new infections rate dropped, but Canada, the UK, Sweden and the U.S. are still suffering. And, not for a minute do I believe the numbers coming out China, but I keep posting their crap because they remain an important player. Tennessee saw a huge jump in new infections, as their testing ramped up in advance of their planned reopening. Virginia, Texas and Illinois are doing badly, and the Florida “miracle?” continues. Numbers and rates of testing are not complete for this week (I only began using new, more reliable sources, late last week).

The Tuesday bump in reported deaths was more than I expected, but rates – both worldwide and in the U.S. – remained about the same. Sweden’s infections took a big jump, along with deaths. California, Arizona and North Carolina had big increases in number of infections, while Pennsylvania and Arizona saw spikes in reported deaths. Florida, once again, amazes the epidemiological world with its uncanny low number of infections, despite being the U.S. leader in the current Covid 19 testing rate. Either the Sunshine State has its own, less-infectious, brand of Coronavirus – or somebody’s lying their ass off. Maybe its orange juice?

Worldwide, rates of infection and death remained the same, and although the U.S. death rate upticked, infection rate lowered and recoveries increased. The UK, Canada, France and Sweden are duking it out for king of the infected and dead, with Belgium hanging on to its death rate leadership by a thread. N. Carolina is the new infection rate champ, with California dropping out of the top five. Arizona jumped to 1st on the death leader board, with Ohio a close 2nd, while Pennsylvania fell all the way to 8th. Florida continues to amaze with all its testing, yet find ever fewer Covid 19 infections, and all the while Floridians are dying at an ever lower rate. Sunshine and OJ has to be the answer.

Willy Boy sure loves his color-coded charts, don't he? It's like Linus and the blanket.

Willy Boy just frantically running around the basement with the latest laminated color charts pinned up to the cork board walls with thumb tacks, donning his makeshift hazmat suit with dad's coveralls and mom's d-cup bra covering his mouth, with a fencing helmet he found in the attic to top it off.

At night he slams a six-pack of Rock Stars and prints off corona charts faster than the Fed can spit out greenbacks. Dozens of charts lying strewn about the shag carpet, a half-dozen more furled up under his arm as he staggers to the grease-board to update the curve, chicken scrawled formulas and algorithms inhabit the margins, only decipherable to Willy Boy himself.

Willy Boy can't even be bothered to pleasure himself anymore, the recent statistics have absolutely flatlined his libido and the futon is occupied with office supplies, toilet paper, and pork & beans anyways. These restless days turn to weeks, and the formation of under-eye dark circles got Willy Boy looking like Rocky Balboa after 15 rounds with Apollo, not to mention he's already burned out three printers and two Scotch thermal laminators.

So far it would appear the only positive to arise from this pandemic is that mom has suspended Willy Boy's rent indefinitely.

Man – you can’t stop getting me wrong!

At my age, “running around” anywhere is only a dim memory, like my libido - which flattened out for good more than a decade before Covid 19 became a thing (I have a vague memory of being turned on in 2004 by a blackjack dealer in the old Las Vegas Stardust hotel, who reminded me of Heather Locklear, but that’s it.). Plus, in order to print anything I’d have to ask my wife, as I’ve never been able to load even the paper, let alone ink cartridges, without her help with the new monstrosity of a printer (I got without her permission) – and she’d only bark at me to read the damned instructions, so it sits quietly back in its box. And it’s my grandson, who can thank the pandemic for living rent free - while eating us out of house and home – (but he can’t get at my hoard of nutter-butters, which I keep locked in the garden tool-shed, along with a dozen cases of Bud and a half-ton of toilet paper), where he’d never go, as it might revive the painful memories of watering plants and lawn mowing.

Plus, I live in Hawaii – so, what the hell is a “basement”?

The U.S. saw a bump in infections, and bigger bump in deaths. Sweden, Belgium, and the UK are all trending in the wrong direction. Virginia had a very bad day as reported infections and deaths finally got up to date.

It’s a humongous global conspiracy, cooked up by NATO to bilk MEDICARE, and turn their countries into debtor-nations. Very clever, these guys.

Yeah, and remember wasn't there that Terrorist Threat Level color-coded code after 9/11? We are at Terror Level Orange or Red or Blue? Where is that chart at now with all these Governors and their terror? Or doesn't that apply?

Yeah those "threat level" charts were hilarious in that there was literally nothing you could do to correspond with the severity of threat on any given day. It was basically just a daily stress forecast for anyone who gave it the time of day.

Oh today is orange? Yikes, I guess I'll pack an umbrella and a pair of nunchuks?

World wide, infections cleared 4 million, while the rate held pretty much the same. Sweden and Belgium still hold their top spots in infection and death rates, while the U.S. saw its numbers drop a tad. Arizona is fast becoming New York south, while Florida continues to mystify. I can think of half a dozen reasons why Florida, despite leading the nation in testing per capita, few new cases of Covid 19 are found, but none statistically satisfy. For anyone reading this, what is your explanation? TIA

Infections worldwide increased a bit more slowly, but the U.S. saw its rate drop considerably. Deaths in the U.S. hit 80k, but the recovery rate keeps getting better. California’s infections jumped, and so did Florida’s (meaning DeSantis will likely get an angry call from the White House), while Arizona saw a big drop in deaths.

She's a plant. Her rise to fame is as phony as it gets. It's like the elite just wanted to trot out a new face for their climate agenda and this sweet, little innocent Swedish girl, that fits somewhere on the spectrum, was the choice because she plays on the heartstrings of the masses, and God forbid you disagree with her on anything, you'll be vilified as an insensitive monster.

TIA
You can lie about the cases, but you cannot lie about the hospitalizations. The hospitalization rate is very low. Florida hospitals are underwhelmed by COVID-19, so take your "statistical anomaly" and shove it up your ass. Miami has a problem. Everyone else here is doing fine, thank you. We do more testing than anyone. I don't want to hear your DeSantis conspiracy. Go buy a tin foil hat, and socially distance yourself from me.

Thanks for avoiding the question, and repeating the fact I posted, that Florida leads the nation in testing (although, for the life of me, I can’t figure out how lower hospitalizations impacts the low infection rate Florida boasts). However, I’ve since found an article which addressed the statistical anomaly the Florida numbers present. Turns out that Floridians (like Hawaiians, I have to say), early on, began a self-imposed social lockdown, well before DeSantis shutdown order of April 3rd.

Turns out, Floridians (at least, most) aren’t as stupid as the world thinks. Indeed, so far, Florida turns out to be a model for combating the spread, as long as social distancing, a government shutdown and an economic lockdown is in place. In fact, as long as DeSantis ignores Trump’s insistence on a ramped up reopening, and that it follows the CDC’s guidelines for doing so, Florida will continue to be that statistical blip. Politically speaking, if DeSantis can hold the line against Trump’s desperate urgings, he will gain a lot political capital for the future, becoming, perhaps, only one of two red state governors to oversee a Covid 19 success story – relatively speaking, of course.

A vaccine is inevitable, but regardless of where it may come from, it will take time. A cure is a whole different matter, and will likely come from someplace where stem-cell research is legal and happening.

Weekend syndrome or not, the number of new deaths reported worldwide -and especially in the U.S. - is the lowest number, by far, that I’ve seen since I started tracking. Rates of infections also dropped considerably, but the rate of deaths is still a lot higher than I would have expected. Covid 19 is a lethal mother. Most states saw a drop in rates of infections and deaths, with Georgia seeing the biggest jump, and everybody stop picking on Florida – LOL.

I am wondering how in the heck the virus just STOPPED in China. 5 million people escaped Wuhan before it was locked down. They have been on 82,000 deaths forever. How are there not outbreaks in other provinces? My feeling is they just kill anybody with a fever and do not add it to the total.

That's 82,000 "infections" not "deaths"; and infections stopped in China because, from the ending of February, the propaganda machine has controlled the release of Covid 19 numbers. Numbers which absolutely strain belief and make no sense whatever, leading one to the conclusion that the machine has big glitch in it. Given the number of infected – which had been reported early on (before the government took over all reporting) – the number of dead should be much higher (unless their strain of the Coronavirus is little more than throat-clearing cough, and a sneeze or two), but in the Glorious People’s Republic, where 94% of all infected, recover!), no one is dying, and they all laugh at Covid 19.

China’s numbers are lies – and not even good ones; and I only keep posting them as a kind of curiosity. Even Russia’s numbers are believable, although they’re also suspiciously rosy.

Infection rate up a tad worldwide, thanks mostly to the English speaking nations. The U.S. could not hold its deaths under a thousand for 2 days straight, but the death held its ground. Tennessee, which apparently doesn’t believe in testing, is storming higher in infections and deaths.
