Kind of like saying restaurants are a scam, because you can just cook at home

Just paying for a service, that's all

it's clearly weddings. when you factor in the cost and that the people you invite have absolutely no interest in attending it and have to mull over how much to spend on a wedding present when there is a better than a 50% chance they will split up anyway. asking someone to give up a june saturday to get all dressed up and go is a major imposition. never mind the poor slob who has to pay for it. nothing against getting married but go to a justice of the peace or city hall to do it. your friends and family will be grateful. this every little girls dream of a storybook wedding is folly. how many people when they get home from one say i'm glad that thing is over. not making the cut on a wedding invite list is like hitting the lottery.

Fractional reserve banking is easily the biggest scam in history. Every other societal problem derives from this. If you don't know what it is, go read a book or watch a Youtube video on the topic.

It's just like going out to eat, you could make it at home for cheaper but sometimes it's nice to go out.

It's all about quality of life. My girlfriend could do her own nails but she prefers to pay the Asian girls up the block to do them.

Haircut, nails, tanning are all definitely luxuries.

I'm realizing how much money I was spending on nice dinners and drinking at bars every month. Its ridiculous, had to be my biggest expense.
