Crazy numbers for unemployment per person
504 unemployment plus 600 bonus per week???????? Hes getting 4400 a month?? I got laid off in 1992 and got 300 a week. So if you are working making 500 a week..being on unemployment pays more for 4 months. Your getting an extra 600 a month for 4 months..so your stimulus is 9600 dollars plus 1200 check. What a bunch bs. Then give it to people on social security. People are getting 4400 a month now..wow.

Yeah. I heard about that. Paying them more to stay home. So, when its time to go back they can just keep getting extensions and stay out of work. Lol. This place is something else. You have to give them at least close to what they were making to pay their bills and all that. This shows that the ponzi scheme is wonderful.

But, if you already were unemployed for a while and not collecting because you were self-employed you get jack squat which is what I was a while back. Everything is a con. Just remember that. The market is totally rigged. Everything is well..........a game. Just like sports.

I just plan to get as far away from all this as I can. I could care less about money at this point. Just enough to survive away from the civilization that is morally bankrupt anyway.

If you are referring to the $600 extra each week all that did was help the higher earners who got laid off. The maximum went from $1,000 a week to $1,600. People are not getting $600 a week on top of their unemployment.

          Sure they are...

“The EDD is still sorting through the latest details received late Sunday about the additional $600 payments to be paid for by the federal government on top of the weekly state unemployment benefits claimants are receiving now,” EDD officials said in an email to this news organization.

“A worker who receives a maximum weekly benefit payment of $450 here in California would collect an additional $600 on top of that,” Loree Levy, the EDD’s deputy director of public affairs, said in an email. “The average weekly benefit payment in February here in California is $340.”That means the average payment would be in the range of $940 a week. The $340 weekly unemployment benefit figure is based on the most recent estimates that are available for California.

incorrect. it is $600 on top of your weekly benefit. If you are entitled to $100/week, you get $700/week (for four months)

Interesting. Initially that was the understanding but then I heard it was only to benefit the ones who were making >$100k and got laid off/furloughed or whatever.

I've not read the bill but i did read an article indicating that the extra $600/wk for unemployment cannot be used by "formerly" essential employees who are laid off. In particular people in medical profession (e.g. Phys therapists, clinic administrators, assistants, etc...) are not eligible. The thought was that exempting them from the $600/wk would keep them working instead trying to get a bigger paycheck on unemployment. Makes sense except...

Hospitals are laying off nurses and doctors (yep in middle of pandemic) due to loss of funds that were generated by the hospitals from "electrive" surgeries. These elective surgeries were very profitable for hospitals. Now there aren't any going on and treating CV patients is a ecnomically losing proposition for hospitals so they are laying people (nurses and doctors off and/or cutting hours).

Also think of the thousands of small doctors offices and cliinics that are no longer seeing patients. All the support people for them (assts, clerks, etc...) are now laid off.

None of these people are eligible for the extra $600/wk

The Florida max is 275 so adding the 600 still leaves me well short of my salary.
It is nice for lower income people I'll be happy to get back to work.

If I filed for disability a month ago due to my back surgery, can I also file for unemployment?
