Breaking Corona info / advice needed

So, my gf works for Disney and they just had a meeting where they were informed that the big premiere events in nyc next week are all cancelled. The higher ups told the head of the events team that “As of March 15th public transport in ny is getting shut down.” It’s not public info but it seems likely that someone important at Disney in charge of these large events slated for next week probably talked to the governor or whoever and got a wink wink tip about the transportation.

I’m bicoastal and just returned back to ny from la for work and to goto one of my best friends bachelor parties in the Dominican Republic leaving the 20th for the weekend. I don’t want to get stuck in ny away from my house, dog, and gf in la for months if lock downed / quarantined like Italy which many think will happen soon. I have a feeling that trip will be cancelled anyway . 10 days from now is an eternity at this current corona rate. Risking potentially getting stuck in a 3rd whole shiat hole would be miserable also.

Do I fly back to la before the 15th and before everyone is panicking and you can’t even get an airline on the phone? I was on hold with Alaska airlines for 3 hrs last week bc of the corona virus. Good luck waiting less than 10 hrs or even getting a representative on the phone if people get confirmation transportation is being shut down. Like in Italy they didn’t give much warning so people couldn’t mass exodus in panic mode. I really don’t want to be “that guy” who bailed on a domini bachelor party with my best friends bc of corona paranoia but I feel like I’d be making the smart play to get ahead of it. I’ll be eating a 1500$ loss on villa etc if I bail or if it’s cancelled.

My friends that don’t need to scramble to be on the other side of the coast are just playing it by ear. What are your guys thoughts? I just ripped a fat doobie hopefully this wasn’t jibberish. I have a strong feeling the early tip Disney higher ups got could be correct though.

I think the panic is ridiculous, but it is what it is now. I’d call it off myself, if I didn’t want to get stranded. It’d be a nice vacation for me, but you have a life, so I wouldn’t risk it. Too good of a chance of being stuck for who knows how long. If it isn’t in NY, then it may be in the DR, and you could be looking at a new life outside of the USA. Hope you know Espanol. But hey, the women are nice.

Flights from Europe to USA are already canceled. Anything could happen at this point. DR is one of the last places I'd wanna be stranded. Third world country outside of the resort towns.

I left LA on Sunday night and the airport was a ghost town. although very late, I was the only person in security. That's always fun when you have 1500 worth of dispensary crap for your friends in your backpack carryon. I flew on right through no problem and made my flight just in time. It took 3 hrs to get Alaska on the phone then and now they won't even take your calls. I tried to get a hold of them tonight and call back isnt even an option. Just told to figure it all out on the app/ site. Bought a ticket back for saturday morning. Hopefully things don't shut down before then or I'll be pissed.

Let us all remember that this whole China trade thing was started by US millionaires and billionaires. Apple anyone? They struck deals with the Chinese people (oops meant Chinese government), put Americans out of work, and these same people made billions out of the deal. All American companies shipping back their made in China goods for us to buy here in the US as US citizens. That's the ultimate slap in the face!

Why aren't they held accountable for the destruction of the USA economy? I can only imagine congress people taking bribes and getting rich off China too while Americans suffer.

they do recommend people here to not use public transportation. that came out on Sunday.
