              Don't think healthcare salesmen exist......

              Life insurance salesmen, yeah.......

All sales suck as sales are inconsistent which means you'll have good months and bad months, good years and bad years which is guaranteed to take years off your life from the stress......

takes a lot of initiative. have to market yourself and get meetings with people.

need good contacts. would help if you had a network group you were a part of already.

you hope you talk to 100 people about it and some bite. an ex-friend of mine started this and he seemed to have made a niche cause he was a good bullshit man.

Pauly sales is in my blood.

Yes I am very well aware of the ups and downs.

So right now I’m already in sales but yes too your point I’m not doing as much business as I would like.

Which is why I want to start doing something else on the side.

Does anyone know if I can do life insurance on the phone independently without having to report to an office?

My other job requires too much of my time to take on anything that requires me to report to an office frequently.

Life.auto/home/ insurance is usually sold from a notary office..

I think all you need is a license and your good to go......

So,whatever the government charges for a license......

Probably don't even need a physical office if you not interested in the notary part......

I don't need the 12 points but I'll answer your question.

I work as an I/T operations analyst for an insurance company.
Take it from one (me) who processes all sorts of actuaries, and other insurance related information on large IBM mainframe computers.
Other insurance related information includes commission checks for our salespeople.
I have to audit the amounts too, so I know first hand that the salespeople don't make much at all.
I comment to my partner and he does the same we say "My God, how do they get by on that crappy commission check."

it is. you need contacts. i think if you hook up with a company they might give you leads. you have to market yourself in the neighborhood and areas so people contact you. same as real estate.

Had to change auto policy recently, so i get a quote direct online was very reasonable. Few days letter get a letter from the personal touch local office quote was 25% higher. Just went to company direct online and bought much cheaper

Only if you're a high volume salesperson that commands a high commission that is excellent at what he or she does, then yes.

Unless there is a nice profit sharing or year end bonus involved or some nice overtime pay, then no there is not a lot of money in an office job unless you make at least 80k or so a year and even 80k is pretty much a break even point providing you don't have that big of a mortgage.

So true. I worked as a caretaker(part time gig) for a guy who lives say few miles on a private gated entry road telluride, co. Guy owns the patent on some of the most lucrative drugs being sold in pharmaceuticals industry. Lets put it this way he makes more money a day in interest than most millionaires make in 2 years. His caretaker house is worth over 6m alone has horse stables, and a workout facility. He gladly will pay someone 250k a year( +rent free) than have to fight with contractors to come out to house if something goes wrong, or needs a chore done. He literally only occupies the house 1.5 months out of the year.

There are probably more Medicare sales people today than in the history of insurance sales not to mention small group/ large group sales for the big commercial payors.

The individual insurance market is a very small piece of the insurance world.

Also the real medical sales people laugh at pharma reps. Most medical device or high level medical sales jobs state "no pharma" in the job description. Pharma rep does ok 100k and a car.
