    Some M'Fer Hit My Car
Got home from date night with the wife and pull in the driveway to see on the street where our 2019 Challenger is parked, the entire left side is scraped and driver mirror is flipped upside down

No note or anything. FUCKIN sucks.

Shitty. Hope they find the bastard. Probably drunk and bounced. Maybe when they sober up they’ll do the right thing, and come back.

We live next door to a house that does Air BNB rentals so could be them, but hard to tell when dark. Gonna walk around the neighborhood tmw to see if anything pops up. Also going to talk to neighbors to see if they have cameras. We have one but only does live streaming, no recording.

Do you have a garage? Why are you parking your new car on the street?

Good question. Just moved here about 2 months ago. Garage is a "1 car garage" but you can't really fit a car in there. Driveway can maybe fit 2 cars but every driveway on our street has an obscure dip from the end of driveway to the street. Everyday I hear all my neighbors scrape their cars as they go into their driveway. We designed a ramp for the car, but park our other car there. I can't trust the new whip doing that. That is why I park the car in front of our house. Didn't know some fukkstick was gonna slide into it...

Went and talked to my neighbors. Some are checking the cameras, but would only be able to get a visual of the type of car, but no license plate or anything. No enemies around here, barely even talk to the neighbors.

@dan23 Depending on the type of insurance coverage you have, this could actually be a blessing in disguise. The person that hit you did a hit and run. Hit and runs fall under the uninsured motorist umbrella of most policies. So my point is it doesn't even matter if they catch the guy that hit you. Unfortunately you'll have to get this documented though, which means you'll likely have to call the cops out and deal with that bs.

The fortunate part is you won't have to sue anybody and be tied up in court. These days insurance companies are virtually reluctant to pay out 3rd party claims, which is what this would be IF they did catch the guy. I know it sounds bizarre but assuming you have the right type of insurance coverage, you're pretty much better of getting hit and run then you are if the guy stops. Bc like I said ins companies are basically stiffs. You pretty much have to sue them and go through the legal process these days to get fair compensation when they do stop.

Talked to some more neighbors. One guy has cameras and it looks like a white SUV was speeding down our street and either lost control or something and hit the car and then slowed down after. You can't see any plates or anything though. Not much we can do. Filed claim with insurance company and have to pay the $500 deductible and then get it fixed. Oh well.

Sucks you're out the deductible but I believe in Karma so hopefully something good happens for you and the jackofff that hit ya ends up with a bad day down the line.

The dip is the road or on your property (driveway)?

I'd file the driveway down a little to road level or if on my property just add pebbles at minimum

Nothing good can come leaving it parked in street

Happened to me years about 10 years ago before everyone had cameras. Wiped out the whole left side of my car in a isolated neighborhood around 2:30am. I heard it and immediately walked the neighborhood. They left a distinct part of there car behind and judging by the impact I could tell the damage would be on the left side of there car which means unless they parked illegally it would be facing the streets and limit me getting out of my car when looking for it. Since I’m born and raised in the neighborhood I woke up early and drove to the large amounts of apartment complexes a half mile from my home as I figured they would stash it there amongst all the other cars. The 2nd block I turned down in that neighbors I located the vehicle and notified the cops as the piece of car they left behind matched perfectly. It ended up being a neighbor’s daughter who lived at the end of my block and her dad try to hard her car there

Great investigative work man! So what did you end up having to do about it? Did you get the police to investigate it and sue their insurance or did you just file uninsured hit and run on your own insurance?

Cop was a fine looking female and initially thought I had something to do with it as she couldn’t believe I was able to locate the car.I explained to her what I wrote above and what’s a few bucks in gas while grabbing the kids food opposed to paying a $1,000 deductible.

Like I had mentioned my neighborhood was in a weird spot and you just don’t drive thru there at the time it happened if you didn’t live there

Bear, had to pay the $500 deductible and insurance covers the rest. Got the bill the other day, total of $5k in repairs.
