Sounds like Drew did not increase site traffic of NEW members, only old members. With Drew's constant contests, he caused costs to significantly rise. This forum makes money on bringing NEW players on to the books they advertise.

Shari interacts and has the attitude and backbone that can deal with degenerate men. However, retention is also brought through contests and from Drew's tenure, it will be intriguing to see how "expectations" have been created, of all these contests, if they disappear. Will current member traffic dip.

I actually went downstairs to grab my laptop to properly respond to you (it's 5:30am here) as I think all of you and Drew warrant a proper reply.

As I'm not an official member of the Marketing team I can't validate any numbers with a hundred percent accuracy other than to say was I told multiple contests were a detriment to SBR? Yes.

That doesn't mean the intent was wrong or ill thought out... from what I understand it just tended to be the same people posting entries over and over and over whereas the average PT poster didn't even bother to open those threads.

And yes I do interact when I can and have that backbone... but that's a massive function of my being a poster here first before ever trying to mod the forum, let alone admin it. I'm going to use Rudy as an example now as to why I think it's extremely important to hire those with experience and inside knowledge whether it be here or at a plumbing company or at Saks. The same principles apply.

Let's say Rudy has always been a bit of a problem poster, had multiple accounts but it was agreed if he never created another one those would be banned and he could use the Rudy account. Because I've known him for years I could reasonably surmise he was either severely drunk, on medication or hacked so I'd send him a PM/email or even a text msg to see if he was ok before banning him. However if you were a new staff member here with no history or knowledge of a poster you could easily go the other way and assume the worst from the start.

On the flip side... let's say before a massive contest like Heat the Wick. (Again all hypothetical).

You are totally focused on numbers of people who sign up because maybe that's one of your KPIs or that's how you think you're valued as an employee... who knows.

To the extent that you lift the fraud detection protocols that have been in place for at least 8 years before your arrival and have seemed to work at a high rate. You have certain bleach blonde bitchy people from Australia railing against this idea and lashing out because she suspects it's all going to go to shit but she's shot down. Fast forward a few months and... Derailer. And not only Derailer but staff from other forums and a total shitshow that still makes me gag and blush to this moment as I'm so embarrassed although again I had zero to do with it.

One time it was a 3 day weekend and I hoped he was taking it off - 3 or 10 day ban

I came back from playing sbrpoker to a perma-ban with nothing i said that day

(i was obviously very pissed about things before that with everyone and most of it was my fault so it is what it is...meaning maybe i deserved it well before that day but not that day)

Having said that, he (i assume) did let me back and I didnt have a problem with him in the last 15 months or whatever...I just stayed out of the way mainly....but he seemed like a good guy after that
