How many of you at one time or another shopped in a Dollar Store?
Come on, fess up, you're all nameless and faceless in here nobody will know.
I read in one of the business journals last month where some upper middle class people will on occasion drop in a Dollar General for an item or two.

They just opened up a new one here so just for shits and giggles I decided to drop in.
Granted 75 percent of their items are bullshit, but the other 25 percent are bonafide bargains.
For instance a can of their store brand coffee that costs a dollar that goes 6.99 in a big box chain store is just as good.
If you like pop tarts (and I haven't had one since I quit smoking weed) goes for a buck too.

If you can get by the Roseanne Barr and Momma June smelly types you can save a bunch of bucks.
I'll stop by going forward once a month or so.

yes kinda frequently when I lived by one. haven’t been to one in while I stopped going though because I reasoned they get many of their products from grocery warehouses that arnt fit to put on the grocer’s shelves because I’d see faded label can goods I remember buying a six pack of coke that tasted awful once after a sip or two one man’s junk is another’s treasure as they say

I have for stupid summer Parties that broads wanted to do a tiki party or whatever. Not losing my ass for dumb decorations.

It's fine if you're just buying cleaning shit or whatever. It's a million times better than Wally world which I will not enter.

I wouldn't buy any "fresh" food or shit but if you need bleach and Brillo pads then why not?

Yeah their steel wool products are terrific for a buck, and yeah I'm not risking my health over their 'fresh food' but like I sad 25 percent of their items are bargains, just gotta be careful as to what you buy

Are you buying a glass antifreeze tester and a ten pack of cheap lighters, too?

                Too funny.
It's Bic lighters or nothing for me.
Nothing pisses me off more than those cheap ass lighters that are rendered useless after three lights.

Are you about ready for some Royals baseball?
They play the Rangers tomorrow afternoon.
I'll probably have to wear my rally cap for the better part of the game.

I have one about a mile from me. Like you said, there are a few bargains but most of the stuff is utter crap. I certainly wouldn't buy any meat or produce there.

Mr. Glass died a few months back, so we're under new ownership.
I appreciate 2014 and 2015 but he was more concerned about hanging on to his Walmart money instead of investing it into the KC Royals.
Moore was one hell of a GM.
I was bitter for a couple of years after jettisoning Moose, Lo-Cain, and Hosmer but then it hit me like a ton of bricks it was the right thing to do.
So help me God if we get rid of Merrifield.......

Have from time to time. Never knew they had fresh food, or meat there. I thought the furthest they went with food was canned, and boxed foods. Haven’t ever seen meats, fruits, or vegetables

The big name dollar stores are fine, i.e. 99 Cent Store, Dollar Tree, etc., etc. I do see a product in these stores that I would not purchase in a million years--condoms. Saving money is great, but some items one shouldn't skimp on.

Party decorations, candy, balloons, beach toys and stuff like that are all things I have bought there.

I've seen people buying eggs, cereal, canned tuna, canned spaghetti and meatballs and their whole grocery list there. I couldn't imagine having to live off canned garbage or low quality crap that they sell there but it's better than going without a meal I suppose.

i don't buy it anymore since they raised the price but it was basic Colgate with just the anti-cavity ingredient. then i started using better toothpaste and buying it from walgreens/rite-aid. i would still get listerine from walgreens. moreso things like ivory soap, shampoo, barbasol shaving cream were things i got.

Like most say, not for food but once or twice a year for cleaning supplies. 10 years ago I was pulling the freight of Family Dollar so was able to just steal what I wanted. Was a great job, home most nights, got laid occasionally and learned a lot about the boroughs of NYC.

the free shit was only icing on the cake

Have bought balloons and party decorations there. NYE most recent. No reason to pay 4x the price at a party store when all that sh** is gonna go in the garbage the next day anyway.

Only food I've bought there was the packaged Thomas' Bagels considering the grocery store sells them for $3.99. I think they're the overflow or close to expiration date. Never had an issue.

I have bought a bunch of 72-hour candles there for my zombie apocalypse supply kit. In a regular store they can run $3 or $4.

honestly, i've never had an issue with quality at dollar stores and i've made thousands of purchases\

as per food sales and what dollar stores get into, dollar tree has refrigerator and freezer at many stores..... so you can get cheese or even frozen steaks (very thin, but they were $1)..........

I flip sports cards and boxes, business is booming right now with MLB and NBA products. Mainly boxes of several hundred each but I’ll look for any opportunity, as long as value of my time is worth it (not going to drive all around to Target/Walmart’s for potential $50). Came to my attention that dollar tree had these special packs for an NBA product. While visiting my family for Christmas, stopped at a Safeway to pick up a couple things. Saw a dollar tree next door and checked it out. Found 45 of these special packs, paid $47 after tax.

Sold them this week for $90 after fees and shipping. Not bad. Have roughly $7k of inventory worth $10k after fees/shipping based on eBay recent sales. Hold for a year then sell is the best return.
