I am more of a animal lover than a people lover, main reason. Also they got attacked by a serial killer last year who just invaded the premises to kill more than 50+ dogs in cold blood.

Zaguates Territory is a “No-Kill Shelter”, a dog sanctuary where we do not believe in euthanasia as a solution to the problem of abandoned dogs in Costa Rica.
Our mission is to find a home for all the dogs that are in our care. We are a temporary home for hundreds of dogs looking for a second chance, and we are also the permanent home of many others who may never find their own family.

Zaguates Territory is a non-profit organization founded by husbands Lya Battle and Alvaro Saumet, who since 2006 have been dedicated to promoting animal welfare and respect for animals.
The word "zaguate" is used in Costa Rica to refer to a mixed dog, mongrel or
1. Rescue and improve the quality of life of stray dogs.
2. Promote the adoption of animals rescued by the organization.
3. Reduce the number of stray dogs by neutering all who have rescued and awareness about caring and responsible ownership of pets.
In Territory we imagine a world where all dogs have a home and love. But keeping our territory is not easy. The costs are exorbitant. We do not receive any help from the Government and we stay afloat thanks to donations. Give food, shelter and health care to every animal that we have costs us on average about $ 36 a month and we need all possible help to keep our doors open.
