The best thing about a boat/yacht is that someone else owns it. So yes buy it and take us broke SBRers on it!

Best days to own a boat are the day you buy it, and the day you sell it. Fuel costs will kill you. If you use it enough to justify the cost, gas bill becomes ridiculous. If you dont use it much, whats the point?
With that said, I worked with two docs that owned yachts and they both loved owning them and hosting parties. That said, they both made millions/year and had been for at least a decade

$1,000?
If he’s looking at a real boat, $1,000 is the monthly moorage fee

Dude depends where u buy
In SWFL theres yacht shows 2xs a year and the best part is you can get guaranteed hours and free service for x# of years
You buy from some random and you'll be spending out your ass to keep that thing floating
A good deal perhaps, but saving on slip fees, motor repairs and all the minor shit that kills the salt life vibe is what drives ppl to sell boats

Well at least it's someone else in your story who's incredibly rich and successful so you're getting better

You only plan on taking it out 5-6 times a year? And you're up in Canada right?
Not even worth the maintenance and additional fees. You don't know what you're getting yourself into.

I have to agree, you would be better off renting 5-6 times per year.

I used to own a 26.5 foot cabin cuddy.
Speaking from experience a boat is definitely not something you want to be renting out.

Yep. All my buddy ever talked about is how pissed off he was for buying this boat... because his wife begged him too. I don't know much about boats... but from what I remember... it was a 40 footer... twin engine. He said when you breakdown the cost from bringing it to the lake you're at.... docking it.... insurance.... and then taking it out of the water at the end of the season..... then storing it... he said what a pain in the fukking ass. (Not even joking.... exact words.) He did it for 3 straight seasons.... he said thank goodness someone bought it off me.
