And it's not like Apple is abandoning music, they're just separating media (music/video/books, etc.) into different apps. iTunes as it stands now is a bloated mess; I quit using it a few years back for all but the bare essentials (back up phone and ipad, basically). That's the problem I have with the Apply as it's slowly becoming a monopoly on music purchasing now.

How about buying CD's at stores, that's probably gonna go away next. I see Apple is slowly gonna take over the music sales industry just like Amazon did with general retail. Music stores where you can still buy CD's will begin to close in time as Apple continues to force it's monopoly on music on the population..
