we already ban so-called "assault weapons", but as I've said in prior posts on this issue, all weapons are truly assault weapons..... my 7mm mag is much more deadly than an m-16..... bigger bullet, better accuracy, and longer range..... banning weapons because of the way they look makes no sense.....
I don't have a big problem with limiting clip size, although I have to admit running a 40 round banana clip through a mini 14 that had been modified to be fully auto was fun, and a trip.....
bottom line, we have thousands of gun laws already, and they aren't stopping the crimes such as those recently experienced.... more laws isn't going to change that.........

I grew up hunting every year with my grandfather. I did not like the idea and felt like it would not work trying to get all the guns back. And I never would have thought the massacres would stop from it either. Only takes one gun in the wrong hands etc.

Just a sad and horrible event. Seeing some of the replies in this thread just furthers the idea that America is on the decline. All innocent lives matter. Color, sex, religion....it is inconsequential in the big picture. This kid didn't decide to hate on his own. It is learned from family and friends. @Grits I agree and realize much of this is taught and influenced to some degree. But if you truly believe that's ALWAYS the case and were all just a bunch of dumb followers. Then yeah it should seem obvious not just this country but the human species as a whole has a putrid look into our evolutionary future.
I know it's the company line hate is taught etc. But it's always not that easy and just another reason we are failing. It's always about passing the buck or blame on someone else in our society and not taking any responsibility for any wrong doing for your OWN actions. Yet strangely with our successes in life we love to relish in all the praise... Agree that adults need to take responsibility for their actions but you don't just wake up one day and hate people based off skin color. It may not be taught by family but it is something a child will digest if they are surrounded by it. The criminal who committed this crime learned his behavior from somewhere and the fact that his father bought him the gun he murdered innocent people with as a birthday present is a pretty strong indicator of the kind of family he comes from. A gun is not a gift or a toy. Before the gun nuts here go ape shit, I want to say I am pro gun rights for responsible adults. There is no way to limit who will be the end user of a gun but it is time to treat gun crimes harsher across the board. The father who purchased the gun should be prosecuted and held liable for his son's actions. He was ok purchasing a deadly weapon and giving it to his son, now he should be held accountable too, in both criminal and civil courts. A lot of guys here like to brag about guns and how bad they are but the majority of these "tough guys" would shit their pants if a gun was pulled on them and they had to shoot back to save their life. Well it's the South and even though I'm not from there and don't come from a similar background myself and not a gun owner personally. I do know the culture living in Midwest most my life. All them rednecks, outdoors types, you know the hunting/fishing guy whatever. That's a pretty strong segment of the white pop there I'm willing to bet. And knowing some of those types myself they are given guns or allowed access to them at a very early age like riding a bike to most of us.
