Another police shooting video goes viral

This cop is fukked. Society is tired of these shootings. This is the first one with clear proof that the shooting was not only unjustified but basically a murder took place. I think the NAACP wins this one and this cop sees some serious time behind bars. Time for some DA to get a nice little trophy on the mantle.

Sadly enough, that probably earned him some high fives and ass slaps around the station. It's a culture problem.

It seems with LEO's, they're actually beginning to fall out of local favor which is actually a pretty bad place to be for them, seeing as citizens vote yes or no for certain taxes that benefit PD's. i lost it when i started doing criminal law, and saw non stop abuse of suspects, planting of evidence, bald-face lying under oath.....

cops are out of control -- and not just a rogue cop here and there, and as the chad holley video in htown showed, it's a systematic problem that desperately needs to be addressed......

What I was getting at was why not shoot him during their initial confrontation ? It could have certainly been more justified than unloading on him when he was running. Instead he tried to tase him.

Can see already this will be the defense now that the guy recording the video is on record as to what occurred prior to what we see. It answers my previous questions....how did they end up with no car in sight if this was a traffic stop...and who had been based because you can clearly see the line from the leads if you pause the video in a clear version.

So the cop stops the guy...at some point he runs...then according to the recorder they ran...officer caught him and they fought on the ground...he had control momentarily of Scott...Scott got free and was hit by the taser....at that point, probably by reflex he reached to knock the taser from the cops hand and then he ran and was shot.

The cop will say he'd tried everything but the man kept going, couldn't be stopped even by a few thousand volts so once he got up and hit the taser, last resort was to shoot. Jury shall decide.

Agreed...never meant to say it was. Was just saying the cop will use the escalation of force defense (not that its correct but it will be used) that he attempted arrest, guy fled, he didn't shoot but went hands on...then taser, then gun.

Looks bad for cop, but unlike most here, i'd like to see what transpired prior to shooting. Contrary to popular belief a cop can shoot in back under certain circumstances, even if and especially the suspect deciedes to run. If a person is running and has shown a propensity of disregard concerning public safety, deadly force can be used. Not saying that is the case here, but gotta see the rest of this encounter.

No one should ever be running from the police, even if you believe you are being unlawfully detained.
But you should never ever be shot for doing so.
The poster who said there are circumstances where a cop is allowed to shoot people in the back & one of those reason was public safety if the perp is a known threat to society.
Ironic that the biggest threat to this cops community was himself.

Wouldn't make a difference to me either way.
