I grew up with HOF basketball player David Robinson and his younger brother Chuck in Dale City, VA...one of the smartest and coolest down to earth people you'll ever meet...and yes, he was great at the piano and could play Mozart and Beethoven even before he went to the Naval Academy...I knew and became friends with former NFL TE Frank Wycheck at the University of Maryland at College Park...and also Under Armour founder, CEO, and self-made millionaire Kevin Plank...we had business,, marketing and accounting classes together...last but not least, I hung out and drank beers with former NHL player Sylvain Cote when he played for the Washington Capitals...he was very laid back and very sociable and didn't mind having drinks with the guys!...

I actually have met many, but to name a few:

Kirby Puckett, Tori Hunter, at fund raisers on multiple occasions, and actually spent considerable amount of time with them. Great guys. Dick Vitale I met in Florida through a mutual friend not that long ago while I was attending a special event, and he also seemed like a very good guy. I enjoyed speaking to him for about 10 minutes.

I think most of the Professional athletes are good guys, and down to earth. The few that are prima donnas are the ones you hear about acting up, so they make the others look bad because of there egos.

back in 1991, in spring/early summer, my ex-wife and I were living in newport beach, and drove up to l.a. to do touristy things in the hollywood area, when somewhere near sunset blvd, late in the afternoon, Magic f'n Johnson pulls up beside us in a big 600 S class mercedes...... we're in a little blue miata with the top down, and I glance over and see him, I say "look honey, it's Magic F'n Johnson!!!"

as she turns to look, the light changes and he guns it, she says, half drunk, "dammit, I didn't get to see him..... catch up!" So we fall in behind this mutha fucka and start following him in true idiot style..... he obviously sees that I'm some star-struck fckhead suddenly chasing him, so he hits the f'n gas in his ride, and starts trying to dust us..... So i put the hammer down trying to keep up, and the next thing you know we're racing full fckin' speed through the f'n hollywood hills trying to run him down......

finally he blows through some light that I wasn't willing to run (and probably wreck the new miata I'd bought her for her birthday) --- (ah, her b-day is in late May, so it was summer of '91), so we give up the f'n chase..... white knuckle driving and pure adrenalin rush trying to run that big v-12 S class mercedes down in a four cylinder miata......

little did we know he was probably so eager to lose us so he could go make sweet love to some dude; it was that fall, I think, we he announced he was HIV positive....

as for pros i've met, my sons both played against biggio's sons, saw him and clemens wife around the little league park in West University alot back in early 2002-04 range.... have awesome home vid from right behind the backstop of my oldest son smacking a thth one/2 hopper right at biggio's stud son at short; Beege junior "bull fighter waves" that mo fo right on through to left field to avoid gettin laid the fck out......

Hung out with Robert Horry this past NYE in h-town.... cool as shit guy..... Have photo evidence of that too, wussywaves............ post up!

More than I can count waiting tables in Las Vegas. I was smart and never talked about what any stars did for a living, and I think I got the best out of them that way. Honestly, why would you ever need to?

None were assholes, but I never worked clubs, where they can be.

Nicest - Eddie Guardado, Joe Montana, Carson Palmer, Jonathan Ogden, Channing Frye, Paul Konerko, Brett Hull.

                Weirdest - ARod, Joey Porter

The weirdest stars I ever waited on were George Hamilton, Barbara Streisand, and Suge Knight. None of them were dicks though, just really awkward. People that have money and don't have to worry about it anymore are almost always super chill.

I'm a motor sports fan, especially old time drag racers who started the sport back in the fifties. What's nice about
going to a drag race, you can meet and greet your favorite drivers with the price of admission.

I've hung out with Big Daddy Don Garlits and his nemesis Don the Snake Prudhomme. Auto graphs from TV Tommy Ivo, Bill Grumpy Jenkins, Ronnie Sox, John Force ETC.

Sorry if you guys don't know who these people are, these guys were fierce competitors who made the sport what it is today.

My brother and I got drunk with OJ Simpson and his lawyer, Robert Kardashian, in Aspen, CO.

This was about 6 months before he offed his ex-wife and Goldman. I really hope it wasn't something I said.

Yes. I rode him on one horse on Preakness day or maybe the day before on Black Eyed Susan day, can't remember. Barely got to talk to him though which is why I met Howard Cossell. Big jerk grabs the Shoe coming out of the jocks room and talks to him all the way to my stall. Then keeps it up while in my stall. Barely got to tell him about the horse much less say hello.
After the race, I spoke with him again about the race and he said sorry about Howard. He had been trying to avoid him all day. Lol. That made it all worth it.
For my 2 minutes total, he was really nice . Did not win the race however. Would have loved to have had a win pic with the Shoe on one of my horses.

Horses is the best game. Serious railbirds, even ones of humble means, can end up on friendly, first name basis with the big names of the sport - really thinking trainers here, owners and jockeys next - just always be there early and drink (like a gentleman, if poss) in the right spots.

Was at Yankee Stadium Old Timers Day 2001- Got tickets from an office job. I spotted John Havlicek and he was pretty much before my time. I saw his NBA ring. I went over and said hello with my little cousin. He wanted no part of it. His wife got him to sign. Because of me, a ton of people came for autographs and he switched seats.

When I was just 14, I used to go to batting practice at Yankee Stadium. Steve "Psycho" Lyons didn't give a ball to a fan and I yelled "you suck". He actually came up to the wall like he was going to hit me and I was 14!

More of my interaction is on Twitter. Have some athletes following me and have conversed many times. Christian Laettner ( who is my favorite player) talked to me on the phone. He follows me. He's just what I thought he'd be. He was arrogant, but I have no complaints because that's what I loved about his game. He said I'm lucky to be talking to him. LMAO ( kind of disappointed me, but I'm secure; it's cool)

Twitter is a great barometer for which athlete is a nice person and which one is a fake. It's everyday life. (not in front of a camera)

2 years ago I'm in vegas for a buddies bachelor party. Get out of Marquee hammered and decide to hit the pits. Walking by the high limit room towards the floor we see Wayne Fukin Gretzky and his wife playing BJ. The bachelor and half the dudes there still play hockey and idolize Wayne. We had been playing $10 tables that weekend but we all sat with him at $100min and shot the shit with the Great One. Lost about 5k combined but it was awesome while it lasted.

Best part is, flash forward 12 hours we're on the 15 back to LA and stop at the Jack n the Box in Baker. As we sit to eat we see a big ass Rolls Royce pull into the lot and park next to us. Out hops Gretzky, his lady and Bernie Nicholls. They walk in and enjoy some jumbo jacks in the booth next to us. Talk about surreal. We tried to make a joke about "why are you following us Mr. Gretzky" and he looked at us like we were retarded and had never met him . Mustve been a long night at the tables for them because they were wearing the same clothes and looked beat down.

I fell down and my face was inches away from a colony of goat poop. He made like an umpire, outstretching his arms, and yelled "safe." I let out a nervous chuckle, and then wet my overalls. It's okay though, because later on, by the duck pond, I picked his pocket... $17.23 and some chewing tobacco is how I entered the world of kleptomania. I made out like a bandit that day. "Gutless" Joe Jagoff I used to call him.
