I am asking this question out of curiosity, as I have been fortunate to travel the world over and back on multiple occasions as many of you on the forum know, both for business and for pleasure, and I have lived in Southeast Asia, Mexico, Aruba, and in South America, so it will be interesting to read the responses, since I will be able to relate to many of areas you choose.

I would like for you to select one place and elaborate why you would want to reside in this location of the world.

My favorite place in the world that I would prefer to live is in Thailand. Thailand offers everything that would make my life complete. It offers some of the best beaches and ocean waters in the world, (I am a beach bum) the best shopping, endless entertainment, hot weather, I enjoy Thai food, the culture, and everything, including housing, is very very economical. You can live a very good life on $1,500 to $2,000 dollars a month in some of the nicer places outside of Bangkok, as I cannot take the traffic problems you have in Bangkok.

The reason I no longer reside in Thailand is because my business interests are on the other side of the world, in Cartagena, Colombia and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and both of these places are very special to me as well, especially Puerto Vallarta.

Tough call, but right now it would be Ambergris Caye in Belize. Beach paradise, not that well-known, I can easily boat over to Caye Caulker if I want to party, Belize City if I want to hang out in an actual city, and San Pedro if I want to hang out with super rich people. English is the official language. Sick snorkeling. No taxes.

The two things I'd be punting away would be organic meats and good internet connection, but I think the latter has gotten a lot better since I was there last, and I could eat more fresh fish, so it's not a big deal.

....love the place.....VEGAS.......would travel still but thats a killer home base..for the obvious reasons as well as....its also VERY diverse and is a 24/7 city. Friends and family would also visit often and the food is amazing out there.

Yes my friend, Las Vegas offers a lot, but it does not offer the most important thing to me which is a beach and the ocean.

Women in PI Smoke the Thai"s out. Much more GFE EXP. Thai women are very mechanical in nature and the language barrier to this day still sucks in Thailand vs PI. Everyone speaks English in Pinas.

Great post! If you know the Manila/Ermita area I was one of the first persons that bought a condo on top of Robinson Plaza in there presale. The hotel that was next door was called the Manila Midtown at the time, but that got torn down when the condos were built. I sold the condo in 2004.

I also lived in Thailand in various cities over the course of 2 years, Phuket, Koi Sumui, and Koi Chang. I much prefer Thailand over the Philippines, mostly because the infrastructure is so much better. As far as the cost of living it totally depends on where you choose to live. Next month I will be in Bangkok for 5 days, a couple of days in Pattaya, and then 10 days in Phuket.

Lucky you! Have you been to Burgos Street in Makati yet? Great place for entertainment!

For a nice trip to get out of the city go to Boracay or Palawan. Both are beautiful islands with fantastic snorkling/diving and reefs.
