in brooklyn there's tip jars at all the grocery stores now. i go to the store every other day.
i always do it because i'm a conformist and feel bad either way.

when i was a kid i remember some of the times when people tipped me. i was sort of a little scrub. giving money to kids is awesome actually, one time my friend bought this little poor kid a cheap bike and he rode it for years.

now i have this moving job where the clients always tip you, but the company knows this so they pay you less, but the job is so easy any monkey could do it, the problem is the moves in the city don't take very long but i digress away from the point

rent inflation and increased cable/fancy phone bills has made lots of people need more cash, and the tips really do make your hourly wage seem not so bad

I agree with you and they usually act like they expect at least $1.

In any case there is a easy fix too both. Stop going to places that don't warrant a tip and don't open dumb ass thread titles that don't pertain to gambling.
This is the Saloon, it for off wall stuff like this. I hope your life is more than just gambling.

It's really fascinating how these tip threads constantly show up and get tons of replies

Just tip when and what YOU personally feel necessary......Don't see why people having the option is that big of a deal for people who don't like to tip......I don't tip every single time I have the option but it doesn't bother me that I had to decline

Alot depends on your frame of mind in any given tip situation more so than how great they actually work for you IMO.....Like if I hit a big bet, I'm definitely tipping if given an option later that day

Don't they also make your sandwich at wendys. BK, and mcd? I don't see what they do at Subway that they don't also do at other places.

Well Mickey D's etc. doesn't make it right in front of his face, so to him, it never happened. At Subway he stands in line, spellbound at the sandwich artistry that unfolds before his incredulous eyes, prompting him to leave some coin in the chewed up paper tip cup, designated so by the ballpoint scrawling on the side.

He thinks McDonalds differs in that once his order is placed, a properly trained teenager disappears into Narnia, and carefully plucks his entrée off of the magic Quarter Pounder with cheese tree from which it grows. Since his hamburger is simply the product of mystical, magical agriculture from the land of make believe, human toil is reduced and thus, the need for tips is eliminated.

Like here it is put something in it.
                      Indefensible and disgusting

Should have smacked the cup across the room

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't get punched a few times. If I'm on a losing streak and win 2 out of 12 it would be tough to control myself he pulled that BS

nice. how long did that take? at subway you get a service. they make it in front of you as you dictate what to put on it, and its one person the whole time. simple as that. at any other fast food place an order taker punches it into the computer and some dude with his finger up his ass in the back makes your shit as hastily, grossly, and untimely as he wants.

think about the difference between benihana (hibachi) and a regular chinese place. having food made in front of you as opposed to back-of-house is a tippable service.
