I'm starting to think some of these people play like ass at 1/2 or lower to get on ur fish list, then move up, tighten it up and crush. It's an interesting move, I've seen people do it live and shit works.

When you have AA, the board is QK46A (suits irrelevant) and an opponent you play all the time that you know is a total shark bets $125, what do you do?

im an abc player
play the cards and strength depending on the variables I’m comfortable with
but it does help to have some notes on players tendencies, even online

Once I think I'm made I have no problem widening my range just to piss them off.
Plus I have no problem getting creative/aggressive when the time is right.

Yeah I take notes very quickly on people man, color code them and then when I log in I just look for the green (fish) and try to avoid the red (sharks). I'm able to do it effeciently while playing 6 tables. Starspa has good software for that. Opponent selection is what it's all about in ring imo.

I've always thought of myself as mostly ABC, just good at reading people.

Damn I'm annoyed.

Yeah in tournies you have to get more aggressive/creative when the bubble hits and I'm not that great at that. Totally different beast than ring.

I'm very tight ring.

you have to be able to switch up your play
more in live games than online , as people start to play by your tendencies

Just so I spot em quick and sit with them asap man. Trust me, its what all the sharks are doing and you have to get there as soon as possible so that they don't scoop em up before you do.

Lol not annoyed at playing, annoyed at making mistakes and losing. I hate a losing session.

I usually play like six or eight dollar games, but the dollar and two dollar 6 minute blind turbo tournaments are quick (never more than two and half hours)

I'm really a grinder, but I'm not grinding at a micro.
Plus micros are good for my aggressive game, which needs a little more polishing.

Stars gave me a couple free tickets to their $5 "spin and go" tournaments and those guys were pretty good, I lost both.

I think at lower levels there's plenty of excellent players, just a ton more fish.

I've googled some of the sharks I'm playing against at 2/5 and 5/10 and Ive been seeing their screen names in championship events and stuff like that, lol. World class players to stay the penetrate away from in pots.

Probably won't be playing 5/10 for a long time whether my bff jimjames is there or not. Those swings make me absolutely sick to my stomach. I'll still sit with him and Dragon 🐉 up to 2/5 though.

Did you make decent profit at the $5 games?

Going to be real here, and Im being serious.

I'm looking to be an online poker player for a living. I think I can do it. I've played live for a living making about $20/hr for months at a time before, but I like online better because no "anglers" i.e. people that try to get you off your game by getting under your skin (often in the form of small groups of miserable old men that talk shit then you just want to beat the penetrate out of them). No risk of getting stabbed in the parking lot (shit happens).

When the variance hits it is 1000% more vicious than playing live because if you're a guy like me you're playing so many tables, so it can be a real mind penetrate, but penetrate an asshole boss, and penetrate that jerkoff coworker that you have to pretend your ok with even though you penetrating hate him.

Let's see if we can make this work. I am dedicated.

If not, back to live poker here or in Vegas and if not that then back to the annoying penetrating mortgage industry.

I'll be keeping my poker journal in this thread. Read and chime in u like, if not that's fine too.

Yesterday such a mind penetrate. Up a few hundred. Down a few hundred. Even gifted a $700 1/2 lottery pot where aces held against two all in opponents.

The bottom line though is I made about $450 (more than I said before because I re-analyzed a pot where my AA ran into KKK for a big pot) in mistakes so it SHOULD HAVE been a +$235 session without the mistakes.

Need to take more breaks to get away from the paranoia. Fold 77 to a $50 raise and flop comes 77 brick to big pot. Fold 99 to $38 raise and the 9 hits for a huge pot.

Then it's like....should I be paying $40-$50 to try to flop a set?

Of course not, it's an 8 to one shot. Is the software trying to get me to go broke by tempting me to do that? Of course not.

Also I see many of the 1/2 sharks playing. 5/1 and .25/.5. Need to do more of that and to get to know the fish better at those levels as well.

So....a few things to work on. Read a 72 image thread on 2 plus two on Stars as well and learned a lot. Sharp as fuk, those guys.

I'll get to it.
