Woods lives in Jupiter Florida but was the host of the tournament, which was in LA.

I was a bit surprised he was even driving, then I found out it was a guest car from the sponsors.

He was diving a 2021 Genesis GV80. Google says it's about 50k.

He wrecked the sponors car, I'm sure that wasn't the look they wanted...lol.

They say he crushed his lower legs with a shattered ankle on one leg and multiple compound fractures on the other.

Boxers don't decide who wins, promoters do...that's age old and has never changed. I can't imagine a scenario where they would let Paul fail, he's a good ticket for them and can be built up. He comes with his own brand and followers already.

Since the promoter decides who wins, the best thing to do in boxing is become your own promoter.

Then you could never lose.

Turns out Askren has a couple of TKO's from strikes late in his career, in that ONE promotion, but by all accounts he's a wrestler and grappler. And was a pretty good one at that.

I wasn't the promoter, nor will I pretend to know their motivations, but that should be an easy answer for you. Do you have any idea how big of an upset that was? Look ahead situations occur in the markets too.

It was the biggest in history.

I'd say the promoter did a great job with that. Like you said, a mega fight was already set. There is no reason to build up your boxer anymore. At that point so many options are on the table for any "tune up" fights.

And the fact that a professional boxing title match is being sold as a "tune up" by the promotion should really spell it out for anyone.
