Probably. But I think they were planning something else considering they had more explosives, but got spooked when they seen themselves on TV. Don't think they were expecting to get caught.

Maybe they were planning on something else in the area and didn't think they would have got caught so quickly. Who knows? I am sure everything will be coming out since the kid is still alive.

Same fears as after 9-11. Same fears as after the wack fukk killed all those people at the Dark Knight premiere. You're never going to stop all the crazy fukks, you can only hope that the people who are in charge of trying to stop these sort of things do a good job. Unfortunately they are in a no-win job because anything less than 100% success means people have died at the hands of terrorists. This being a perfect example. How many plots have been thwarted in the past decade? But one isn't and it makes all the wins they've had in the past decade look like nothing.
