#107in what you quoted, it wasn't taking shots at the world team, it was saying how not many people compete for a spot on team world.
also, i've said multiple times in multiple threads i am a loser at online poker and that i just hope to make the usa team and how variance was just on my side in the early weeks. not sure where you get the idea i think i act like a king of poker. im one of the few that regularly admit to losing money at poker and sports.
i am just pointing out how fukkin dumb your posts are..... (quick call the cops!!), i called your posts dumb)
you pissy lil brat. i dont have time for this . go drink at 8 am and pretend to win at gambling .Comment -

#108Yes, actually. I'm at my job right now. I guess you know you're wrong then, because you're personally attacking everyone. I don't think someone who spends his time personally attacking people should be claiming others don't "have a life".Last edited by yisman; 02-01-12, 11:23 AM.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

#109I gotta say, the more I look at these point totals and see the vast difference between players from the US verses point totals from all the other countries, you begin to see an increasing degree of unfairness on the part of US players trying to make a team. Why do we even have separate qualifying regions at all? The world series of poker does not operate in this way. What would happen if every year in Las Vegas, hundreds of US players were turned away because of a rule stating a certain number of players have to be from Canada, Europe, Asia, etc.., and only a certain number of US players would be allowed to compete? You would have complete anarchy!
I understand that its the SBR World Poker Cup, but is anybody who lives in the US originally from here anyway? Why not take the top 48 best overall players with the highest point totals, that's 10 for each region and 2 alternates, and via a random drawing pick the teams and that's the country you represent. You would get a lot more evenly based talent pool this way and much better competition. I would have no problem playing for team World, especially if I've got a few good regulars to match up against any other team. Plus I've got ancestors that were from Europe anyway, so again just because you live in the US now, doesn't necessarily mean you were "orginially" from here.
Right now you've got players in all the other regions, in the top 20 who don't even have 4 digit point totals. While the present lowest total for the US is 1785! I just don't see how the competition can be evenly matched up, when you've got a guy with 3 cashes and 595 pts making the World team and a guy whose got 10 cashes and 1820 pts and makes no team at all.
I say we mix it up, throw all the top names in a hat and pull out the 4 regions that way. Hell, we could even have a draft and do some trades before the competition, just to make it more interesting. Just kick'in some ideas out here.Comment -

Where did I ever say that I think I'm a god? You must have a huge ego, because you're busy attacking everyone who disagrees with you.

I doubt you own much of anything, and if you do, your "employees" must be miserable.
You should also consider getting an education so you don't sound like a high school dropout. Just a suggestion.

I don't understand why people just can't get over the fact that this series is for the top 10 players from 4 regions of the world, not for the top 40 at sbr. Not that difficult to grasp imo.Comment -

i'm sure everyone else agrees that that if the top 10% of world is the same as top 10% of america, it means more people in america are better. by the same token if we take the worst 10% of world and worst 10% of america, america would be worse...they just don't see the need to agree and point out how dumb your logic is that you think the top 50% of the world is better than the top 20% of america.
anyway, judging solely by the numbers, team usa is still HIGHLY above expected winnings. Could mean USA is more skilled, could mean there are alot more people playing poker in usa than anywhere else(although sites do say it is 50/50 and optional even argued those are usa sites which means he thinks it is more likely it is less than 50% of america....) or it could just be variance because it is still rather early.
and as i said before, a MTT is completely different format than a 4 person STT. Skills needed are vastly different. so you are right in saying that just because usa has so many more people doesnt make them more favored, but you are wrong on the reason why. if qualifying consisted only of 4 person qualifying then yes, usa would be more skilled and favored. and its not because americans are great at poker and other places arent.......why do you think a AAAA high school team kills a A high school team? More fukkin people to choose from.
hopefully you can address the points instead of name calling
i really havent looked at site visits from other places, but it also appears canada is running above expectation right now.Last edited by RudyRuetigger; 02-01-12, 12:55 PM.Comment -

personally though, for future tournaments i think the best strategy is take top 20 americans and top 20 rest of the world. this would make things the most fairComment -

#122points have been made. all a big waste of time really.
2 guys from team world saying stupid shit.
fact is that if these 2 players were in any other region they wouldnt even come close to making a team. not even a 1000 points thru 3 weeks, of course they are defending the setup.Comment -

i thought it was related to olympics, which john said at 1 point. you bringing up the olympics again is laughable. you see, this poker tournament isn't a "team" event. we all arent sitting at the same table. we all arent giving each other assists and passing the ball back and forth or doing pick and rolls. these are individual tournaments much like that of high dive, marathon, etc etc.
usa sent 212 to the last olympics. ask yourself why albania and other countries only sent 1. is it because noone in their whole country wanted to compete? youd think you could find a drunk homeless guy that would go to the olympics for a free trip and do a high dive, right? the point is they have qualifications and not all of them can make it, yet other countries are able to send multiple people for the same event.Comment -

It's not a free trip. In fact, it's extremely expensive to go to the Olympics.

Why do you think US and Canada have relatively the same amount of people meanwhile algeria only has 1?
oh yea, its because they all competed and qualified like that...so again why are you trying to argue it by qualifying times because that would mean usa should have 40x more people?Comment -

#132by the way, would love to hear about how extremely expensive it is to compete in the olympics. i tried googling it. funny i never found 1 event that had an entry fee

i am talking about a drunk homeless iraqi going to take a jump off the high dive...i would say that costs $0 and even in the minute chance you have to pay for your flight, im sure you make up way more than that with what you are given. so, again, i am sure there MUST be another reason why iraqis don't have people compete in certain events while the chinese have multiple...oh yea its bc they dont fukkin qualify.Comment -
