Just booked my flight. Flying in on the 17th in the afternoon. Departing AM on the 21st, have to get back to NY for a wedding.
Bringing my son and nephew. Graduation present for my nephew. Their first trip to Vegas.
Still waiting on my host to confirm the Golden Nugget (he had to get approval for the Saturday night) but I also booked Planet Hollywood as a backup (comped with $35 per night resort fee.)Comment -

The guy that owns the Plaza steakhouse is a famous old school Las Vegas lawyer to the mob owners too. Cheap drinks/food on Tuesday nights with a business card from the legal profession and if enough interested he hosts dinner for groups and tells stories about the old days and legal cases. Right up your alley!

No surprise I guess I will not be making it to the wsop. Health issues have ravaged my family both physically and financially. I wish you all the luck and hope one of you takes down a event or two.
As for me I've made a choice. I'm not going to be coming back to this forum. I'm going to login daily to get my points, which I will ship to everyone I owe in this order. Triple Double, Auto Donk , and then chuckythegoat.
I will probably not be playing poker anymore. I've accepted that I'm bed ridden and useless to my family. When a man can't provide he is no longer a man. I'm sorry to everyone here for any hard feelings they may harbor. Best of luck to everyone.

I've never been to downtown, only on the strip. People at work (women) are telling downtown is awful. Is this true? I imagine they are drama queens...Comment -
I know the last time I was downtown it was pretty scary....and it was the daytime. My wife was pretty uncomfortable walking with her purse. Felt like someone was going to grab it and run at any moment.
I'm considering staying down there since it appears that's where 90% of the people are staying (and the wife can't make it). The savings would pretty much freeroll my first daily deep stack also.Comment -

There was some homeless types hanging out every 10-15 yards. One was yelling super loud at some veteran in a wheel chair (who was begging for money). Maybe in the evening it doesn't seem so bad as more normal types are out. Plus the more YOU drink....the less you notice weird things.Comment -

So with regards to the downtown area, the hotels and in the freemont experience lane, I personally think it is totally cool.
My only hesitation is that one time when my wife and i were there, we walked down the street ( the road to the strip) to pick up a taxi at night and we were cased/followed/accosted by a couple of less than savory types.
Luckily, we did not stop, kept walking and got in a taxi before anything happened. I am 99% sure we would have been mugged if we stopped and did not get a taxi shortly after they started talking to us.Comment
