Get your 2020 calendars out and mark on them the dates for the biggest poker event of the year.
The 2020 World Series of Poker will run from Tuesday, May 26 to Wednesday, July 15 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
On Jan. 24, the WSOP added 17 more events to the 2020 schedule. In addition to the what's been dubbed as the "Value Menu" as well as certain WSOP mainstays like the Main Event and Seniors Event, this latest batch of events has been called the "Freezeout" Series.
It features half a dozen freezeout tournaments ranging from $500 to $5,000, with the WSOP announcing that more than 40 events on this year's schedule will give players just one shot at winning a bracelet.
“New events are always a result of player input and we’re thankful to have received many great suggestions this year,” said WSOP Vice President Jack Effel. “The 2020 WSOP is chock-full of new events, new price points and a little mystery sure to resonate with poker players everywhere. We can’t wait to open our doors in four short months to get things started.”
Other events added for 2020 include a $250,000 Super High Roller, the biggest buy-in event in World Series of Poker history, and the announcement that the buy-in for the Heads-Up event will be increased from $10,000 to $25,000 and capped at 64 players.
However, the most exciting announcement came in the form of the $1,500 Mystery Bounty which takes place on June 28 at 11 a.m. where a guaranteed $1 million will be distributed in "mystery bounties."
Running as a typical bounty tournament, with each elimination worth $100, there will be a total of 100 mystery bounties ranging from $2,500 to $250,000.
