It is useless to the daily tournaments without something to play for. Heck give the overall champion a paid entry into at least a $1500 WSOP event.
When is the next poker series going to start?

#7Having to qualify for an event and then perform well in one single tournament is lame. Leaderboard based payouts, world cup format etc actually reward good players. Anyone can win one single tournament.Comment -

#9Hope the new promo is enticing. I’ve gone into semi-retirement due to work/time constraints and have actually enjoyed the break.
Good chance I may sit out next promo unless it’s worth the time investment.Comment -

#12Idk that any SBR tourneys are worth the time investment but the last World Cup was certainly worth it for the entertainment that it provided.Comment -

In general, Poker has been a huge time waste in my life. Yes, I’ve hit a few decent scores and am up for my lifetime. However if you take the number of hours I spent and would have worked at 7-11, I would have made much more money. It was the fun times that kept me playing....not the money.Comment -

#14Agree....none are probably worth the amount of time put in. But if you like playing poker it can be a fun challenge. I took a new position late last year and it’s currently taken a lot of my time. Hopefully down the road I can find more free time to play.

Yup, unless you are a professional, pretty much guaranteed that your hourly rate in poker is going to be worse than you would make in a an "average" job even.
I suppose many people, myself included, did start out in poker thinking that perhaps it could be a profitable enough past-time to make a real difference in my income. And frankly that was probably quite realistic back in the day (when the poker boom started in 2003-2004). Simply put, the games were so much easier back then that you could have probably made a very decent hourly rate while being only a bit of an above average player. Now though, it's gotten so much tougher that you're going to have to put in a ton of work, both in terms of playing a lot and studying in order for that to be a possibility.
In any case, "worth the amount of time put in", that's obviously a very relative thing. Yes, no doubt for the same reason if your goal is to make $/win points, even if you're a top player here/your team wins World Cup, your hourly rate is not going to be worthwhile as if this were some type of job.
I personally do it because it's fun, I enjoy the challenge - the competitive juices can get you flowing! And pretty much always when I'm playing poker on SBR, I'm doing other stuff online, watching youtube/netflix, watching sports on TV, etc. etc. So adding a single table of poker to my multitasking is not usually much of a bother. Add in the fun + nice prizes (again nothing to write home about, but certainly something which feels good when you cash it out!), that makes it worthwhile to me. Of course ymmv, all depends what you are looking for!Comment -

#18I wrote this note in a private message to Sam and copied Opti nearly a week ago with no response;
Hi Sam,
Is it possible with your help of course, to privately sponsor a poker tourney. I was thinking about a tourney called The Xstream Super Bowl / Holdem Biathlon, which would encompass two parts for the entrants. Part One; to qualify for the Holdem Tourney, entrants (Pro Only) will have to pick the winner of the Superbowl by posting their selection with the fix game line listed in the Tourney announcement post. One/two days after the game is concluded a list of the (Part One) Winners would be listed and SBR would issue passwords to the Part One winners in order to gain access to the (Part Two) holdem tourney. The tourney would be held on the following Saturday or Sunday Afternoon. Payout follows the next day.
I would donate the prize points to set the tourney up. If SBR wanted to match my offering great, but if not no worries. I was thinking around 1500 points with a 100 point knock out prize for the person that knocks me out. Prize would be divided among the final 6 in some sort of top down structure like we have currently.
This may seem simple to me, but it could be a huge hassle for you. If so, my apologies and we can forget about it. Sounds fun and would be something new!
PRO ONLY
What do you think? Let me know.
